292 strap opinion

hi guys i was just looking around the internet for strap ideas for my noob 292J, as i was looking for a change from my black calf strap to change up the look of it. came across this thread(on rolex forums i believe) with a guy who bought the OEM green canvas strap that originally comes with the mare nostrum pam 300.

here are some photos:






i think it gives off a pretty cool military vibe to it with the olive green contrasting the black case. what do you guys think? look forward to your opinions and suggestions

haha yea mate i most certainly did, but i already have a 339 on an oem asso and i figure they're pretty similar, and i reckon the asso matches the brown dial and faux patina on the 339 better than the 292. but yea i'm really leaning towards getting a green canvas, not necessarily the oem one cos my AD here told me prices for panerai have gone up again, straps included, so calf straps (including canvas) are now 300, and they used to be 270. quite the increase eh?

yea man. tbh i thought 270 was already pretty steep, considering that's pretty much the cost of most of the reps out there haha. but some gen straps are really really nice and to me worth the money (well sort of), ie asso, cashmere, that i would pay for. but yea now with the price increase it's making me think even harder about springing the money on another oem strap.

Great looking strap and really suits the watch! This is my next strap definitely. btw, I got a black canvas with red-brown leather in between for mine so...no doubt the strap for the 292 is made of canvas :b

I got a Hirsch Terra in gold color on my 292. Wears and looks great. I was considering the green version of this particular strap. Looking at your pictures with the green canvas on the 292 made me decide to also get the Hirsch Terra in green

haha so i take it you like the combo? yea man i think it looks really good too. but i could probably get a similar if not better green canvas strap for a whole lot cheaper than the oem one. such is this hobby eh? haha

You can ask to any strapmaker, they make really nice canvas straps at a more decent price. Even if Panerai straps, they're quite over priced now, mainly for canvas !

I have some form Peter Gunny and from Eric (Hamilton Leather), they're built differently each other, but really nice ones!

This green army canvas suits perfect. If you go with a handmade one, don't forget to ask for a 27mm lug size, not 26, fits better.

I fitted a grey Assolutamente strap on my 292, it suits also really well. The rep one getting a nice dark grey patina.

beautiful, just not sure which rad to put it on, i have a 292J, 448, 388 and 380. by any chance could i see some photos of your 292 on the grey asso strap?

Sorry, the strap is no more on the watch. I wish to refit it on my PAM292, now it has his patina.

But here is a pic of a brand new one. Imagine a brown asso getting patina, it's the same on this one, becomes quite Anthracite, with lighter sides...

haha yea mate i think so too, but i already have a 339 on asso which is more or less similar. well to me anyway haha. i'm still really digging the green canvas though. shall think about it some more... haha

how is the quality of the rep mare nostrum strap? the pictures i uploaded at the start of this thread are of a 292 with the gen mare nostrum canvas strap haha. could you please share some pics?

It has the right color (difficult to have it on pics). The only "bad" thing is about the keepers, too thin. Except this, that's a nice strap. I bought it for my PAM292, but the previous owner guled the lugs screws as well as lugs, so impossible to change strap. Will remain on its beige nubuck GSD strap
