Hi guys,

I've just purchased a cheap (and I mean cheap) chinese 2824 to practice pulling apart and re-building in the hope that I can I can familiarise myself with our most used rep movement, problem is I've put it on the timegrapher and it says it's beating at 21,600bph, shoudn't it be 28,800? I can see that it looks like a 2824, but it comes with no second hand so cant see that. My timegrapher is a Weishi 1000 and automatically detects the beat rate so I don't understand why it say it's beating at the slower rate? Any suggestions/answers on this?? Just as a side note it's actually performing quite well, a little fast but otherwise really pretty good! Thanks all.

OK done some googling and it seams according to Ranfft that I have a CHINA 2824 which beats at 21,600! Go figure... so I wonder how different the A2824 is that beats at 28,800? Any input on this?

I had both the China 2824 and a2824.
The size is the same and the hands fits in both.
One is low beat and one is hight beat.
This is the difference.
In my opinion the a 2824 has a better quality.
The date change is the same on both movement

there is a variant of Chinese 2824-2 clone movement that beat 21,600bph (lowbeat) instead of the usual 28,800bph. These Chinese 2824-2 clone lowbeat movement have poorer finish as well, but they work well enough.

for our confirmation, provide pictures.
