253 Chrono Button Problem

Just got my 253 from the sales board and am running into a small problem.
The top button that starts the chrono is extremely stiff and once started, even harder to press to stop the chrono. The reset button doesn't seem to stick out fully like the top button does.
Also, the top button seems to spin freely while the bottom one doesn't.
Any thoughts? Advice?
Thanks!

most likely a very e-z fix... if you have a local watchsmith who you've used before on reps, take it to him.
ive owned 3 253s and 1 of them had a similar problem.. luckily it just sort of fixed itself.

Thanks for the advice.
Just wish the seller had informed me of this problem. Can't imagine it only happened now.
I've got a great watchmaker that's very reasonable and does great work.
Thanks again!

Mmmhh... If it's a dealer, consider sending it back and getting a replacement. Have you told the seller? I would communicate with him or her first.
IMO, when you spend good money on a watch, whether a gen or a rep, it should arrive in good con. Why should you have to seek out watchmakers, spend more money, go through the trouble and anxiety? It's not right.
You'll find that most dealers here will be happy to communicate with you to solve the problem.
If it's a private sale, that's trickier, but I would still inform the seller. Maybe you cand get to a solution together.

It was a private sale.
Emailed him about it yesterday and no response as of yet.
I agree about what you said but the watch wasn't terribly expensive and I figure if my watchmaker services it the movement will be better than new.
But I'm holding out that the seller will step up to the plate but I'm not optimistic.

Fair enough. My 253 doesn't have that issue... Hope you are able to resolve this. Good luck.

Looks like you're one of the lucky ones!
Seems like this problem isn't isolated to only my watch.
I'm a little lazy now and don't need to use the chrono function so might procrastinate a bit on the service.
But when I do send it in and get it back I'll post on the results.

HAH! Checked with my watchmaker and he quoted a service cost of $350 on the 7750!
I'll check if he can just lube the pushers and cross my fingers.

Wowzers.
You can use the TZ Toolshop to pick up a complete Cyma watch with a Swiss 7750 in it for less.
Yeah, I know it's not a chrono, but I'm making a point...

HAH! Seller finally replied. First he told me that he never used the pushers enough to know there was a problem.
Then I asked if he could kick in a few $'s to partially cover the cost of the repair, he said that the watch was working fine when he sent it.
Hmmm...something's not right here.
Oh well.....
