I've scoured the strap and buckle makers and searched until my eyes have crossed. I'm looking for a 24mm ceramic buckle for my 441. I have a 24/24 gunny strap on it, but currently I'm using a PVD buckle. I haven't contacted TD's yet because I was hoping to find a custom buckle for it, but at the end of the day I'd be ok with an engraved (maybe non engraved) pre-v as long as it's ceramic.

Does anyone know where to source a custom buckle that is ceramic and 24mm? I'd prefer a pre-v or similar style and it has to be a screw in.

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in general, but since it is for Panerai I tried here first.

Thanks in advance!

Haven't seen that from a custom strap maker yet.
You could try asking your TD if he might be able to get a hold of one? Maybe they're able to get one from the factory they get their 438s from

I'm pretty sure that the OEM buckle is PVD if you are trying to get greater accuracy. I personally would be wary of a ceramic buckle as it is a very brittle material. Having something as thin and subject to knocks / desk dives as a ceramic buckle would be a disaster waiting to happen IMO.

I've thought about the durability too. I have a 22mm prev engraved that is supposed to be ceramic and it appears to be pretty durable (I've only wore it a few times). Also the 438 bracelet is ceramic. I've seen a couple broken around here, but for the most part they seem to be holding up?

I'm not sure on the gen if it's pvd. I'll have to research that.

I don't think ceramic buckles exist. They probably crack when you hit it on a desk

What buckle material does the 441 come with from our TDs? I bought the head only for mine.

Can a 438 owner chime in on what their clasp is made of? I thought those are full ceramic, head and bracelet which I assumed included the clasp.

Maybe my 22mm sold to me as ceramic buckle is DLC? it's clearly different than my PVD stuff, and not brittle in anyway.

It comes PVD'd from the factory -- I have the 438 and the bracelet is ceramic, but the clasp is stainless. It's hidden underneath the bracelet, so you don't see it. Both PVD and DLC are coatings (think powder coating) over a stainless material. It very well could be DLC and that is my preferred black buckle over PVD.

Thanks for all your help. Request no longer needed. Ceramic buckle is a major fail, got it.

DLC it is.

Hahaha -- not a major fail in the scheme of things -- just a learning experience! Cheers.
