AHH! The dial works and moves but don't think it's resetting, it's from a seller on here, I've also read it's to do with AM/PM but that obviously wouldn't make sense with a 12hr dialYes, definetely got the wrong idea. The dial at 3 is for the chronograph. It shows the minutes and hour gone since you strated the chronograph. When you reset the chronograph those should also reset to 12.00, unless this is a DHGate or something where the dial at 3 is not functional
Nothing to do with AM/PM. It should move only when the chronograph is activated. If it moves always or if does not reset together with the chronograph hand it is either broken or a very bad rep.AHH! It does move with the main time and not the chronograph, it is a cheaper rep tho but I shall find out! Still happy with it as it's my first REP! Thanks!Nothing to do with AM/PM. If it is broken and it is a TD you can perhaps ask for a repair
Of course, enjoy it. Chronographs are also the most overestimated complication. Everybody has one but nobody uses itIt does move with the main time and not the chronograph, it is a cheaper rep tho but I shall find out! Still happy with it as it's my first REP! Thanks!
Yes, it's a budget rep and doesn't replicate the functionality of the gen. Pretty much all the cheaper chrono reps only have partial if any function - you have to step up to the reps with a full clone movement and considerably higher price tag to get anything that'll work like a gen.it is a cheaper rep tho but I shall find out!
Yea I definitely won't be using it for it's purpose other than telling the time!Of course, enjoy it. Chronographs are also the most overestimated complication. Everybody has one but nobody uses it, but do look good.
For sure! It was definitely a trial purchase into the rep world but now I've caught the bug I'll start investing a little moreYes, it's a budget rep and doesn't replicate the functionality of the gen. And even then, I never play about with the chrono function... they're way too fragile and inclined to break, or fail to reset correctly.
So just enjoy it as a cheerful approximation of what could otherwise be a horrifically unreliable complication!
That's how always goesFor sure! It was definitely a trial purchase into the rep world but now I've caught the bug I'll start investing a little more![]()
This VK64 movement seems to work differently as the 24hr dial actually moves when I adjust the time instead of when using the chronograph functionI see that some of the TDs selling this model include the following in their description:
"MOVEMENT: Asia 7750 Valjoux Automatic Movement 28800bph with Decorated Rotor & Bridges/Plates like genuine Omega Calibre 9900 with Functional 3:00 Subdial Counter with Dual Functional Needles (3 Subdial Hands are joined together and cannot be reset to zero. It will look as listed on the pic when reset to zero)"
So it probably works as described, but not exactly like gen thoughBut a nice watch anyway!
Aaah, you went with a quartz versionThis VK64 movement seems to work differently as the 24hr dial actually moves when I adjust the time instead of when using the chronograph function
Yea, probably going to avoid looking for a correct working chronograph and just go with slightly simpler stuff nextAaah, you went with a quartz version![]()
HeheYea, probably going to avoid looking for a correct working chronograph and just go with slightly simpler stuff next![]()
but it's basically rubbish
How does one freeze it?LOL, a bit harsh bearing in mind the price
I'm sure you and many others know this, but the trick with the VK models is to freeze that subdial at point zero, and then enjoy them, including the Chrono which will time seconds and minutes reliably and spend the cash we save on these on the better reps
As @p0pperini has said before, the only way to get a proper Speedmaster is buy a Gen, since nobody does one that works properly and has proper subdial positions![]()
Eh I think other than that 1 dial it's actually decent quality and looks the part especially for the priceYeah, my cheap (RepsourceUK) DSOM which is (I think) VK just moves with the time but never actually tells the time as far as I can see. The hands just move in some random way!
It's a sweet looking little thing, but it's basically rubbish, I think I last saw it in my (step) grandsons toy box, which is about the right place for it.
How does one freeze it?
