21j in a Grand Carrera 6. Noticeably "ticky," or smooth

I am looking at this watch (it is mistakenly called a calibre 8, but it is a calibre 6 rep). I just tried on the gen at an AD. It is a really beautiful watch. The seconds are really pretty awesome on the GEN. Without looking at it next to a gen, will the low beat of the 21j look "sloppy?" As a side note, low beat on a watch with sweeping seconds bugs the living hell out of me in cheap replicas - this is a pretty damned cheap replica, but with a different style than the sweeping second hand, do you still notice? If so, does anyone know of a version of this watch using a higher beat movement?

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar watch and you can see a very slight stutter on the seconds wheel. I have not compared it to a gen but my rep is certainly not perfectly smooth.

I have this very watch. It's a very small seconds wheel, so differences are slight at best. Make sure you get the rep with the screw-down crown; I have one that has it and one that doesn't. Love the watch, though. Enjoy!

I am really interested in what you think of the size. I visited an AD and tried on a carrera "automatic" which is essentially in the same case. It felt pretty small on my wrist. I have all but decided against this watch and decided to go with something with a little more substance. At the price, I am quite tempted to just go after it and if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out.

If you don't mind my asking, what size is your wrist?

The one I have is actually a rep of the Calibre 8, not the 6. It looks very similar to the one you are looking at but its bigger. It's 44M and it wears even larger due to the thin bezel (I think the gen is only 42mm). On the gen Calibre 8 the small subdial is the GMT indicator and not a second hand. However on the rep it's another seconds hand. I have a smaller wrist and I don't wear this much because of how big it looks. It wears much larger than my gen Aquaracer. It weighs a ton too.

I have a small wrist size; never measured. The watch has some height to it, which satisfies me. It's a sport/dress piece in the vein of a Nautilus/VCO/APRO. That's it's real appeal to me. You can't think of it as a Carrera Day Date or anything chrono-sporty. It's supposed to be a classic size. It also looks great on padded oil-tanned leather straps and tropics. It would also look good on lizard or croc.

PS There are blue faced ones around. Blue is a fantasy color for the Cal 6 but it's so well executed it looks like it should've been included. Think two shades darker than McQueen Monaco blue.
I have the blue and non-fantasy matte black. Both look great. Cheers!

Excellent! Thanks for all of the info. I am buying it for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Fashion/dress over sport. I have my share of Sport watches and I need a good "office watch." I just sourced one from a TD and should have it in a week or two. I am pretty excited about this one. I'll start looking for straps right away.
