I set out to build a nice 202a about 6 weeks ago and wanted to do it the hard way and build it myself..

Thanks for all the advice as this would not be possible without your past build experience....FGD and Joe (rbj69)

you cant be a noob if you put that together yourself. great job.

since you ask for opinions....

good to see the FGD dial..... i personally dont like the PURE SHINY WHITE INDICIES ....at all.

the opening gap of the 6 and nine is way to close ( to tight )

case looks good, to bad the CG lever sits to deep ( and not flush) in the CG.

but, very nice watch, again, respect ! for your job !

Thanks for the feedback...I am looking for the good bad and ugly!

Looking at a way to mat finish the dial and chnage the indecies color...The CG I can live with for now
May convert the whole package to a 009.

I have been through a few CG's and a practice movement to get me to this level and I will only touch a 6497 at the time...other movements and date wheels scare me (for now)

Cheers

A *very* light application of matte finish clear coat should help the dial, 'Nutz. I think vaccum or Ziggy could probably help with the color of the indices. My Pre-A 002 is with vac right now, so I'll have some pictures soon.

h_u, if this dial is like mine, the indices weren't bright white. They were a creamy off-white that was pretty close to some pics that I've seen recently on 'Risti of a NOS 201/A for sale. However, there aren't too many NOS Pre-V or Pre-A watches out there.

Yes, the 6 and 9 are slightly too closed, but with all the variations of dials out there, it's not out of the realm of possibility that one run of dials had slightly different shaped 6/9s.

Heck, look at the link that ChinkieChunkie posted in Rocketeer's thread - there is a 201/A dial installed in an A series style case!

I've said it before on many occasions: The only thing consistent with the neo-vintage Panerais is their *inconsistency*.
