Hey all!

Figured I should make this post.

I ordered a JJF 33mm Royal Oak blue dial.

June 17th - ordered.

June 17th - watch is confirmed to be in stock by factory.

June 17th - paid and confirmed payment. QC expected in "4-12 days."

June 27th - Based on posts in this forum, I've noticed that watches without supply chain issues have QC sent within 3-6 days of purchase. And then I've seen people waiting months with no updates. There doesn't seem to be an in-between. As an aside - I was told by some other TDs that the JJFs aren't made anymore, while different TDs said they are, in fact, in stock, and available for purchase.

Given that it's been 10 days, should I perhaps open the options of the watch I'd accept? I'd take any dial color of the same watch, but need the same metal color and same bezel. I'd prefer JJF over ZF, since the bracelet geometry is much more gen-accurate on the JJF.

In y'all's experience, if I've had to wait for 10 days so far, does this mean it will likely take months for my watch to come? Will opening up the "options" of watch I'd accept (within my specific bounds described above) help in any way? Please let me know if you have some background on how these supply chains work. Thanks everyone!

With how volatile the industry can be, this is somewhat of a new norm. It really depends how flexible you can be to it.

If Andrew states he can get it and gave you an expectation (as he did), I would trust that.

Update:

I asked if it would be quicker to switch to a different dial color of the same watch model, and he said it'd be the same wait... but apparently the factory didn't give an estimate on how much longer I'll have to wait.

In all communication, he's mentioned that it's the factory that seems to be the holdup. If anyone has insight on how the factories operate, that'd be great (ie. what could be happening at the factory to cause the holdup - are they still manufacturing the watch I ordered? Do they manufacture in batches and I happened to place my order in-between batches? Did the factory mistakenly tell Andrew that they can get him the watch when they can't? etc.)

July 3rd - still waiting on QC.

Ladidadi,
  • They are certainly manufacturing the watch your ordered if Andrew said he could get it and didn't have it on hand.
  • I would expect they manufactured in batches as that would be most efficient.
  • I think only the factory could tell you if they mistakenly told Andrew something.

You haven't been waiting that long. My recent order took 21 days for QC pics. I felt like it was a totally reasonable amount of time. It took a total of 38 days from the time I sent payment until I had the watch in my hands.

You could try and cancel your order, or you could be patient. Those are really your only two options.

If you decide to cancel your order, I highly doubt you'd have a dramatically different experience with another TD. And it would also be a shitty thing to do I suppose because he's already invested time and effort and ordered your watch from the factory.

Glad you stuck with it..
TDs have no control over when the factory comes through; Some say certain TDs have better relationships though. It all part of the rep TD purchase. TBH I've waited longer than a month for QC. Just periodically check in with the TD.

And how long can one expect to wait to receive tracking info after greenlighting QC? I'm at 5 days now.

Tracking info came about 5 days after I approved QC. If you haven't,reach out to your TD via email or wechat asking for an update.

Its hard when you are exicted about getting your new bit of bling but often its not the TD they order based on after they get payment, so there might of been one available when you enquired and in the meantime its been sold, this happens with some more popular models and Blue dial AP or PP's are much in demand. As stated Im sure the mfrs build in batches prefering not to have huge stocks of ready to go fauxlexes and the liek sitting around ready for the next potential knock on the door, keeping the un traded parts and choosing to do a build batch is more likely. The BLRO with DD3285 have take for ever!

Ive dealt with Andrew over many years and can never say he has not been up front, I ordered a BLRO from him before the end of last year knowing there would be a bit of a wait but it ended up being nearly 6 months, which was the factory and as I had already asked him to get me an exacting version (correct Steelinox markings latest darker UV bezel etc...) He said to wait until the intial batch came through and once they started moving he sent some QC pics on for me to inspect and said if I wanted one say yes and he will grab one from the batch.

I did ask as have you about maybe swapping to the BLNR as its only a little difference but he said it would be the same time but happy to swap and give a little back. He did say if I did change to something totally different it might be quick choose another factory, but I stuck with it and they came through.

Yuo could always try something else either on M2M on here to tide you over or try a cheaper model to gap fill.

I think the top factory brands are alway a bit of a wait as is the case in the real world! Others that are not perhaps qutie as good on details are easier to get perhaps and more than good enough in all fairness. Its just us lot on here are fixated on it being so near perfect we have to go to the top factories for that fix, it's mainly the Lex's that are so fussy, other brands are far less seen in real life that most woulnt be questioned even if much lower quality unless obvious

Id just wait it out, just be safe in the knowledge it will be far quikcer than waiting for an RO Ad to call you to tell you your new Pepsi has arrived at retail!

Apologies for the late update - I had my watch sent to a modder, so I don't have it in hand, but Trusty's work is completed. Timeline is as follows:

June 17th - Ordered.

June 17th - Watch is confirmed to be in stock by factory.

June 17th - Paid and confirmed payment. QC expected in "4-12 days."

July 10 - QC received. Greenlit as well.

July 16th - Tracking received.

July 22nd - Watch delivered to modder.

A lengthy wait, but I had also asked for a more obscure model, so it's understandable. Thanks to Andrew for staying vigilant with the factory, and everyone on this thread for their advice.
