Maybe a weird question but how does a watch get in that bad of condition in the first place?

How did you do that?? I am always worried about taking too much material off to remove deep scratches and ruining the shape of the case.

You're seeing the case magnified by a factor of 20 times or more with very contrasty lighting. In person and under normal lighting conditions it wasn't that noticeable. I was shocked when I looked at some of my other reps with my Optivisor and a 100 watt halogen. I was amazed how many previously unnoticed dings I found and that was with only 5x magnification.

The magnification lens really show up alot of stuff!
..But the watch looks indeed stuning now.
