Why is it that Rep manfacturers cannot replicate the correct font and color on the OPXI movement, or could be that I am totally wrong and that it is accurate. It does not seems that way when you view the two in pics.....your comments

I've been posting and researching about this movmt for some time now. If you do a search, you'll find tons of info on the highly used 6497. I too would love to see the correct font on the bridges and nicely finished CDG. But until that time comes, I'm happy with the various available Swiss/Chinese movements. And as it turns out, many of the "Swiss" movements are actually Chinese. The copies are so good, the distinctions blur.

But you're right, the current REP movements are dead giveaways.

I agree... been researching here and everywhere else... and both the font and the finisih somehow just blows me away....

Dunno if someone could come up with this corrections... somehow there are few of us that would like does correctiones made. Not just the fonts and dials which everyone seems to care about (not that I don't care).

Please let me know if you find one.

Cheers!

YES PLEASE!!

Given the fit and finish on some of my newer reps- The Superocean- The IWC Chrono- Obviously they CAN do it-

Let's get some sort of group buy or something together and have someone get the damned movement plates RIGHT- and the fat dagger pointer too-

I can provide photos of my gens if needed.

I concur...

I would be willing to help fund my portion of establishing correct looking movements--font/color/whatever. I am sure that I am oversimplifying the cost and effort of this task in my own cartoon bubble, but I would like understand the scope.

Don't get me wrong I am very satisfied with the quality of today's reps. They are terrific, but some outstanding fixes seem worth a little effort.

Can someone please provide a written cost/benefit analysis for correcting the movement in this thread.

Thanks...

My feeling is this- There's SO LITTLE going on with a typical Pam- unlike a breitling or even a Tag with intricate dials- Pams are very clean and simple- so litlle thing stand out more-

For me the Davidsen fonts are totally unacceptable-

The movements- even the better newer ones- are noticeable from a distance.

Maybe because I own a few gens I'm picky- but it would be really, really cool to piss those Paneristi dicks off with a new line of SUPER reps.

LOL I know a couple of people who would get really pissed with a rep of such quality.

I'm sure we ALL want to have a laugh like that!

Cheers!

Yeah teh new Chinese movement has the dagger which is a plus- But the finish quality and the "Officine Panerai" are miled from the gen- and on the gen the rubys sit in perfect little countersunk holes- they glisten as you turn the watch over in your hand- Also the two big wheels (Sorry I don't know crap about what you call them) on the gen are polished-

These are all ticky tack things but since a Pam is SO unadorned they're important to cop the overall feel of the watch, for me at least.

I see what you mean about the countersunk holes... and the type on the "officine panerai" is too big but the winding gears look way better in real life than in my pic.... I think the movement is pretty close... in a year it could be even closer...

Just think how much they have came in the last 2 years with these rep. 2007 could have some awesome reps coming out.

I feel the same way. I mean, there are so many details in other movements and details that are discussed and remade by rep manufacturers, I can't understand why they can't make an extra effort in something so simple (at least from my point of view, maybe I'm wrong).

You're right-

It's not like these are $40 reps- I have Davidsens that cost close to $400 and the movement isn't really in the ballpark-

DAVIDSEN ...... Hopefully this thread has caught your attention.

3 items on the movement that will vastly improve it both its look and value.

1. Polished Winding Gears - Big and small gears
2. Polished countersunks for the jewels
3. Correct font and color for the script " OFFICINE PANERAI "

As you can see from the responses, buyers will make it worth your effort. Tell us if you interested and we will get together a buying group.
