I still can't make up my mind between these two. My next Panerai will be Titanium, sandwhich dial, and display back. I nearly purchased the 177h and still feel like it's my favorite between the two but I worry that on the wrist there will be little differentiation compared to the 005 that I've already got.

So...how many of you out there have 176's...let see them as I've been trying to convince myself to get the base over the 177h.

One last point...Seeing as though the 177h has been through several iterations is it likely to be the more accurate of the two...or since they're soo similar are the both going to be very good.

I don't think either is "more correct" than the other. The subseconds at 9 isn't a tell or flaw in and of itself.

I wouldn't worry about the 177 being too similar to your 005. On the wrist they are nearly as different as any of the "historics" can be from one another. Different case materials, sandwich dial v. sausage dial, logo v. no logo.....

I personally like the 177h better in my opinion... I like a little more text on the dial..

Does anyone still sell a painted "sausage" dial 177?

All the parts are available for 177G (well except for the correct caseback, which was never produced in replica)- so I would imagine they still are or can be put together.

Ask the dealers around. I had my 176G put together by Ruby for a very good price ;)
