Some more bits arrived!

Always enjoyed the raised print on these
2tk5Ek.jpeg

I got right to it and made some test fitments as Mr @KJ2020 had said some VS movements had date wheel problems sitting too low..

Welcome back, wouldn’t expect anything but a 166xx build! Pretty solid pivot to a 13LN, gold prices are not helping you here…

This insert is Immaculate! My original intention was to find a used slightly faded one mainly the numbers as these are very yellow in color, but I'll take it 😉
Even the back side is new!

The Gen hands are nice as well has slightly scratches that aren't visible to the eye

2QPhv1.jpeg

2QPK6v.jpeg

I quickly went ahead and fitted them onto the movement and WOW 👀
2QPq85.jpeg

2QPIvF.jpeg

These are my first set of genuine hands and I'm impressed but not as much as I thought.. The center cap of the seconds hands is nice and the laser cutting is spot on with the outline round cuts, what gets me is the lume plots aren't sunken inn making them look like a geometrical shape..it's okay though I guess I'm too nit-picky being in this hobby for soo long everything turns into an eye sore or as some ppl here call it my OCD is on alarm 😄
2QP1kE.jpeg

2QPyY2.jpeg

Next step was to fit it into the watch case sits VERY pretty 😍 👌
2QPQ8k.jpeg

Annd..... I quickly realized I ran the problem problematic issue the VS movements have/had....😡

The keyless system.... the crown stem goes in with a click, and that's it.. doesn't function either out or in but just turns freely date/time function are none existing.

Anyhow, I'll be looking into this issue latter, I have a pretty good idea exactly what it could be.. thinking the yoke slipped out of position make the crown unfunctional.

Anyways what it looks like cased,
Side note: the Gen Cristal isn't permanently fitted and needs adjusted.

I can’t remember for certain but I think the last keyless issue I had on a 3135 I fixed easily through the rear.
Didn’t have to remove the hands and dial like I do on a 2824.

So the problem occurred when releasing the stem in winding position...never had this problem with VR movements. It's better and safer to release stem in the farthest crown position (time setting position) I'll explain why later.

So after removing the automatic works to get to the keyless from the bottom side (the easy way) you will need to unscrew these two screws.
2QugHX.jpeg

Underneath you'll find the culprit 😅 the winding pinion has slipped away from the yoke! Also take not the yoke is positioned @ winding position @ the beginning on the stem entrance causing the pinion to slip off as soon as the stem is inserted.
2Qv5K3.jpeg

Placing the winding pinion onto the yoke and holding down with pin tweezers at the same time inserting the stem causing it to go through the first winding pinion and through the second winding pinion assuring it doesn't slip off the yoke should lock the stem in proper place.

2QvU1s.jpeg

Picture below the yoke is positioned in the (time setting position) farthest crown position this is the safest time to release the crown stem to reduce the risk of the winding pinion slipping off the yoke.
2QvWMY.jpeg

Same instructions as above placing the pinion over the yoke and insert the stem
2Qvmok.jpeg

2QviDD.jpeg

All in place now just assemble 😁 Oh, and do please grease these areas that you have both pinions at your disposal,...these were dry as a bone!
2QvO5P.jpeg

And that's if folks! The movement runs great and functioning properly also grease the stem too forgot to mention.

Stay tuned more goodies are coming 😎

To utilize a gen crown tube is the countersink a best practice or required?

Looking through my parts bin I knew I had a Gen insert!
2nLzuK.jpeg

Cracked pearl...but I'm not bugged about it.🙄
2nLKI1.jpeg

2nLHZv.jpeg

Quickly went to check the fitment and...yep, doesn't fit the Sillian bezel as mentioned by @trash3939
2nLhdj.jpeg

2nL2x4.jpeg

Next step, sand down the Gen insert? Not sure I'd like to do that...

I'll have to dig into my parts bin again I may find another way around this..In the mean time I'll work on removing the bezel assembly.

Now I have another problem...upon bezel assembly removal the retainer got bent to no return!! Is this material light gage stainless steel?! This is a first that the retainer bent like this..
2nL5fX.jpeg

2nLW2i.jpeg

Also take note there isn't a rubber gasket present under the crystal tension ring🫣
2nLanb.jpeg
Try to reshape the insert by using a loupe as a support to get the correct shape. I have done that a number of times with good results...

Especially noticed on the spring bar holders connection at the hollow end links check these rings solid and thick!
Sodered very well, I remember my ST rings fell off during adjusting them to fit the case correctly...these won't be a problem.

This is the 14k gold wrapped center links and a thick layer if I may add.

As we can see these need adjusting as well..

All that's left now is to enjoy it!

Side note: leaving the bezel ring as is for now, need some funds together as I'm after a gen or a real 18k bezel & crown ✌️😎
