H-factory just released the same watches... 104 & 164... another fight between Noob and H-fac. H-factory's ones seem to be cheaper. According to Joshua's site.
That really sucks, I was excited for you to receive this one. When you talk about the cyclops being distorted, what exactly do you mean? I have the H factory 104 and I think the crystal is great.
I am sorry about this Mr.RadioActive, if I understand you well and you mentioned the date wheel is distorted by the date wheel? If this is true and I want to say this is normal and the gen is also like this, maybe you can check out the gen at an AD nearby? The date font is distorted because the magnifying power is good, if you have seen the previous versions of auto PAMs with a cylcops and you cant see any distortions because the magnifying power is not enough.
I hope those with a noob PAM243 or gen 104/164 can say something about this, the cyclops is supposed to distort the date a little bit.

Yeah, I'm curious to see some pictures. On my 104 there tends to be a roaming reflection/refraction in the cyclops that looks like a scratch/piece of debris, but it moves in response to movement in the light source so it's clearly just light. From what i've read the risti forums, the gen has this same effect.
But of course OP has owned a gen 164, so if he really thinks something is off he probably knows what he's talking about. As for the other piece of dirt/debris under the crystal, that happens from time to time with reps. Sucks that it happened on this one.

I generally feel like the H factory has better crystals with better AR, though I can't compare the quality of their cyclops to a noob factory watch. Now that they have released a 164, I will probably try theirs, though if someone does a side by side of the two I might reconsider. I'd be interested to see some pictures of your bad cyclops, though, as some amount of distortion and refraction has been present on the gens I have seen, so I'm wondering how bad it is.
I owned a Gen 164 for 4 years before I sold it. I know the cyclops well. My avatar pic on RG is of my gen 164. I wear a gen rare 027a. I only have ever worn Pams with cyclops. I purchased my 164 direct from the panerai boutique in CA. I know normal cyclops and this isn't one. Plus there is debris under the crystal, as well as the quick release button for the strap popped out already. The cyclops is so poor is catches light and makes the date way to distorted, and it refracts light so it looks scratched.

I was super excited to see this "noob" factory watch, but my DSNs are 100x better.
I rewatched the video (which is really awesome PT) but my cylops is WAY more distorted.
Just BWI I don't intend for it to be perfect to my gen. I'd never think that, and understand what reps are all about. BUT for $338 two thumbs down..... I may try the H factory version and compare.
If the watch in the video is fine to you then I think it is only a special case, please pm me or email me and I will replace for you and I will send you more pics of the cyclops before sending to you again.

Man, are you really comparing DSNs 164 with this one ?? That's just plain silly, too bad you received defective watch, but c'mon ... tell me one part pf DSNs watch that is even remotely comparable in quality with noob watches, (OK, maybe newborn crown is, but that is pretty much it).
