126500 Daytona Black Dial, CF or VSF?

Finally ready to pull the trigger on a black dial 126500 Daytona. Elliott says clean or vsf is best. The guide from reddit says clean or qf are best, with vsf being third.

I'm less concerned about the movement, and more concerned with the exterior aesthetics. When I bought my batgirl, I went with clean, but since I'm not modding anything, I think I should have gone with arf for the better OOTB experience, visually. I'm not opposed to spending the extra for clean factory with a deep install, but would rather not if unnecessary to save more for future purchases.

So with the 126500, I don't want to make the same mistake. It sounds like vsf with a SL4801 movement would fit my bill nicely, and come in at a really nice price point. Are there any other visual differences between these two vsf models? And why does one say sbf/vsf, while one only says vsf? Did sbf do a joint venture with vsf for the first model lol?

Last question, for clean factory it sounds like I'll need to do a deep crystal for the black dial version. Is the same needed for these two vsf models?

Thank you all!

Just get a VS 4801 with deep and done. Be aware the 4801 unidirectional rotor can make some noise. That's my opinion. If you want any nuance you need to do your own research.

SBF and VSF are the same factory.

Thank you, from my research it sounds like deep isn't needed for vsf as the crystal isn't as milky as even the newer clean.

If your research tells you that deep isn't needed...don't get deep.
Tbh I doubt you would be able to tell the difference on wrist anyway...

Meh.

So much reddit misinfo and slop and opinions. That's the problem with reddit. Everyone has a opinion but how can you verify what they say is right? You have opinions from people who have handled 1 watch and dont know shit to people who own large collections and are highly opinionated. What one person deems as "cloudy" others will look at and think otherwise.

The only true way to discern is to buy it and handle it in hand.

Having handled Clean 126x series - i don't think the crystal is bad. It's fine. A little reflective but not cloudy. I would prefer to upgrade but that's because I enjoy the double AR of deep.

Replica myths die hard. People cry and cry about crystals, so much to the point you have new members who have never touched a replica parroting what everyone says.

I prefer to put in Deep for all Daytonas but that's my choice. Deep looks better compared to both VS and Clean due to double AR objectively. Whether or not it's closer to gen is another argument.

It's true most of my research and rhetoric comes from reddit, until I found the 98 page thread here today which had much better info. At this point, I better understand the differences between the clean and two vsf variants. For my concerns, the crown and dots on the vsf seem to have issues, although as of a more recent thread, it appears the 4131 variant has corrected the crown. I'm still trying to confirm if the 4801/4802 versions have a corrected crown or not.
