Hi all,

I was looking around for gen Submariner dials a while back and came across this strange version.

Common Submariner dial for comparison

I noticed there's a big gap between 300 and m, in addition to that, the SUBMARINER text seems different, thinner. The dial does have the trademark Rolex and crown stamp and serial # in the rear, it's hard to see in the photo but it's there.
I am genuinely curious about this variation and was wondering if there is any expert who could shed some light into this dial, thanks.

Good question. As you may or may not know Sub dials have gone through several changes since 1953(ish). I'm not exactly sure how many years this version was in production. However, I have most commonly seen this dial on some subs produced around 2013-2014.

I wonder if the dial is unique enough if it is on a gen watch to be more sort after, like the 'APH' dial on the 116520 Daytona out of curiosity.

here is a good reference on variations.
If I had to guess, I would say it's been reprinted on a genuine plate as the text looks a bit thin.

I can't say for sure. However, if you puruse grey market dealers online there really doesn't seem to be that much of a price gap on similar years with and without the space in between the 300. That's just my observation though.

Thanks for sharing the article. I tried looking for a similar article to read up about various release of the dials/watches but couldn't find it.
Great stuff!

Agreed.
Now that I have read the article Rx4Time had shared, there are at least 7 dial variations on the 116610LN Submariner😵‍💫.
