Hello,

I am Picking Up parts for a Franken Project, black dial 116520.
The latest clean factory batch 116520 which i bought for Base has poor bezel engravings, i am checking Aftermarket solutions beside a Gen spare part.

Does anyone Had the Deep bezel in His Hands?

From my Research The older CF V1 or V2 Bezel used to be way better than the current ones, but unfortunately the are Out of Stock

You're right, the current Clean 520 bezel is slightly worse than the first versions. But I still think the current one is good enough if you polish it a bit. Then the "3D effect" is created around the numbers and they appear thicker and deeper.

I also have the current Deep/Xing bezel and it is absolutely excellent. It would be my first choice.

Have a look here:
On the watch: Clean early version (don’t know which V, maybe V1?)
Left top: Deep/Xing
Left bottom: current CF, polished

Im on the wait for a blk 520, was thinking to replace bezel and Xtal with deep / Xing maybe buying a gen dial later on

What parts are you thinking of adding in your project ?

Can someone please explain how to properly replace this bezel at home? Does the old one just pop off? Thanks in advance.

first you pry off the bezel with a sharp blade (covered in a layer of plastic of course) .. be careful as almost surely the crystal might pop off together with it !!!! then i am quoting the great @pompompurin ;

1. remove dust on dial and beneath the crystal
2. install the crystal (with the gasket attached around the crystal) onto the rehaut. Make sure the LEC is at 6 o'clock position
3. then you place the bezel on top of the crystal
4. then you use the crystal press to press the bezel down (around the crystal). Make sure you use the right dye size for the press

actually, just give it to a watchsmith. it's a 1 minute job to them and they got a crystal press ready
and i recommend you follow his advice to just sent it to a qualified watchsmith ;)

domiffm - How does one go about polishing a bezel to get that "3D effect" you mention, as shown in your photos? Can it be polished by hand, or a rotary tool required? Can be polished in place on the watch, or must it be removed first?

I was skeptical about it at first but then I couldn't find any xing bezels around so I gave it a try today.

I used polonium polishing compound with a hand Dremel on the lowest setting and gave it a polish for about 2-3 minutes lightly on the surface. Half way through I added more compound.

And damn it's made a huge difference. It's polished up the edges of the bezel engravings and makes the numbers pop so much more.

1 big thing I noticed after the polish is that the bezel is much more readable in indoor lighting now. My favorite Daytona... It's crazy to think I use to hate the steel bezel daytonas and now I love them lol.
