This is not your average Daytona. This custom-built masterpiece has been meticulously designed and refined to blend timeless elegance with a modern twist. Here's what makes it truly special:
Custom Modifications:
- Enhanced Crown Guard Shape: The case was modified to improve the crown guard’s shape, which was originally too pointy. The crown guards were shaved, buffed, and polished to perfection for a smoother, more balanced look.
- Refined Pushers: The pushers were also buffed and repolished to achieve a smoother feel and flawless finish.
Quick Build Overview: I chose the BTF case for this project because its lugs are far superior to older options. While the original crown guard shape was a drawback, this has now been meticulously corrected, making the case nearly perfect.
The dial is in pristine condition with just a tiny, barely visible crack—you’d need to look closely with the naked eye to notice it.
Project Inspiration: I set out to recreate an OG Mother of Pearl (MOP) Dial Daytona with subtle yet impactful upgrades:
- Slim Hands vs. Thick Hands: While I originally wanted slim no-lume hands, I opted for thick no-lume hands due to availability.
- Clasp and Rehaut Updates: This choice led to the inclusion of a modern clasp and the retention of the rehaut engraving. These elements give the watch a more contemporary facelift while respecting its vintage inspiration.
- SwimSkin Strap: To tie it all together, I added a SwimSkin strap—a perfect blend of sporty and classic, ticking all the boxes for versatility and style.
This reinterpretation of the Beach Daytona is a tribute to the original while embracing a fresh, modern identity.
