I have an ooportunity to buy a 063 with a 7750 for $80. First, is it worth it. Secondly, I see most of the 063's on this forum have th ETA 2836 movement. How does it differ from the 7750? It must have something to do with the GMT function.

Thanks.

i could be totally wrong, but i thought the 7750 was used on chrono movements. the 063 has no chrono....so it seems kinda weird to me. again, i know very little about movements, but i never saw 7750 without a chrono movmnt. i have the 063 with the swiss eta mvmnt.

The 7750 is used for a GMT movement pretty frequently... the 7750 stock has both date and day wheels... the day wheel is reworked a bit and it becomes a center spun GMT hand making one lap every 24 hours... usually adjustable counter to the direction of spin of quick date change.

I've got two 7750 based GMT watches and have had great luck with both... but then again I may just be lucky.
Just fyi... the 2836 isn't a native GMT movement either... its modded very similarly to give it GMT function.

i cant believe someone will give you 7750 movement with the watch for 80, if so we are all getting ripped off,
i personally believe its a asian 21j or something similar

it would be possible to use the 7750 for gmt.... and i would think you could use the seconds hand constantly running.... but i wouldn't think that the power reserve would be good at all...

and... i have never seen a 063 gmt with 7750 unless it's some new release... and i am pretty familiar with this particular model....

and for $80.... way too cheap....

i would say it's asian 21j....

I'd tend to agree that the price mentioned is very very cheap.

re: 7750 GMTs... the mod doesn't kill the power reserve at all... the 7750 movement has the sec at 9 naturally and that runs constantly... the GMT hand turns 1x every 24 hours. I've got two GMT pams with 7750's and both have power reserves in the area of 46-48 hours... I'm pretty happy with that amount.

i'll also agree that I've never seen a 063 sporting a 7750 movement, (or a 21j for that matter).... whos the source if you don't mind us nosy people askin.

063 does not have seconds at 9... it has a center mounted seconds hand.... which would have to run on the chrono second hand (the hand that runs when you push in the upper button on a typical 7750 watch) which runs the power reserve down quickly.....

and there are a lot of 063's with an asian 21j out there.... it has a closed back so you can't even tell what the movement is except unless you open it up...

look at any of the dealers for asian grade 063 and it will be a 21j

Just did a bit of research on the 063... I was thinking of a totally different pam. My error.

However... I still pretty firmly believe that a 7750 movement could do this pam justice... at the 80usd price point I'd have to assume this is a 21j powered rep though... the 7750, even being an asian copy, just isn't that cheap.
