029 or 088 Questions for Owners

Hi guys, I'm currently interested in getting another PAM and have my eyes set on either 029 or 088. My question is...how reliable are the movements? The 029 runs on ETA while the 088 is equipped with a 7750. Since both of them have the GMT complication, how reliable are they? Are they prone to issues? Or should I just stay with the hand winds? Thanks

Well the Asian 7750s have become pretty reliable, but of course an ETA movement would definitely be better.

To build on this thread, I just ordered a Pam 029 from psychospike. Can someone with experience tell me how long the watch will last on a full wind?

also, is there such thing as a full wind on automatic movements (both the 2836 and 7750) as I know the manual wind takes about 60-70 turns before you can't wind them anymore.

No such thing as a full wind on an automatic movement.

Like with all reps, the movement needs to be serviced if you want it to last as it really is hit or miss. Even when I got Pam with 6497 movement, my watchmaker had to replace couple things while servicing it that we're just broken straight out of the rep factory.
That said, after you get it done, you will be. One of my reps that was serviced have been running great for 9 years. Another one, 3 years and keeps perfect time.
You can also opt for installing brand new movement. Which is what I'm having done right now in some of my watches.

I would not reco getting a rep with 7750 Asian, I was told that getting spare parts is not possible anymore... It may not be the case.

6497 movements, Asian ones are solid. Get it serviced and it will run almost as well as Swiss. I have both, gen Swiss 6497 and Asian and they both run equally well, keeping perfect time.

Any watch with base Asian 2824 would be good, as they can be swapped with seagull 2824 movements that are really good and cost only $90.
