So after sending a 024D from DSN back to him after it stopped he sent me a new one annnddd, this one has started doing the same thing that the first did. It stopped at 2pm but the seconds hand still continued to sweep.

Does anyone have a clue what could be wrOng with this watch? It looks like I'll be sending it to one of our watch smiths for service.

I wear the watch regularly. No golfing, no beating it up, just to the office and back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just contacted DSN again. He said he'd take it back, again. Oh the rep game. My favorite watch lasts less than 30 days only to be sent away for 3 more weeks. That gen 024 is looking mighty tempting.

This sux, but seriously mate, if you really want to be in this hobby, I think you'd be better off learning how to do basic stuff such as movement swaps etc and just do it yourself rather than continue sending it half-way across the globe for every little thing. I'd say to swap the movements all is needed is 1-2 hrs max and 60$ investment in tools. I long gave up on sending stuff back as it pains me to wait 3-6 weeks for my watch to get back from China, often with the same exact issue as it was before so I just figured buy the best quality you can, stock up on some decent parts and do it yourself when the need arises. Plus, I trust my own QC a lot more than DSN's!

I agree, just send it to a watchsmith to get it fixed in the US.

Lots of good ones that can get the watch serviced, fixed, and back on your wrist in a week or two - and you have piece of mind when they tell you the movement is in good working order.

Do these 024D's have any known issues??

I don't know anything about movement swaps but I guess it doesn't hurt to learn. As far as known issues with 024D's, I've had two and they both died. I do wear it everyday for about 9 hours a day. But I work at a desk where I usually get up to stretch, pee and get lunch soooo I don't exactly have a strenuous constant movement type of job. Maybe it's time I started saving my money.

I don't know anything about movement swaps...

I didnt know anything about watches 12 months ago, but tried fixing a few things, screwed up a few cheap-arse reps, learned a bit more from places like HomageForum where they have a step-by-step photo guides on pretty much all basic watchmaking stuff and it has proven to be fairly easy and quite enjoyable actually to be able to do these easy things by yourself and not to be at mercy of TDs, customs, post services, etc etc etc. From what you are saying, it appears that DSN has a batch of poop movements so I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of getting another one of those next time you send it back to him. I think some TDs basically do you over a few times and hope you will eventually get tired from all of these and go away, although Iin my expirience DSN is a decent guy and will try to help more than most. From what I remember his 024 uses A 7750 so just try to source a gen 7750 - on ebay or forums or from places like Tourby - and most/all of your worries will go away...should be an easy drop in job from what I've read so far and you will be a proud owner of the watch that you can trust to run for the next 5-10 years without any major issues.

mate, try giving Taka an email and see if he still has any more ETA 7750s..

ever since i got this mod done for my 25A, it's running smooth..

alternatively you could get the A 7750 serviced..at least you can get a couple of years fuss-free reliability.. :)

Just cracked open an old 005 that I had and tinkered around with replacing hands, dial and cannon pinion. Other than dropping screws every 5 minutes it went smoothly. I think I'll just save up for the Swiss replacement job. Got quoted for $550 for movement and service, sound about right?
