005K Arrived! ....does anyone elses smell like cookies?

It just arrived courtesy of the folks at Puretime, and looks fantastic... crown guard is seamless to the body, lever is decent non-floppy.... a little recessed, but imo still ok.


Wore it this afternoon at the office, and just couldn't shake this strange smell of white chocolate and cookies wafting around me. All day. I figured someone else got into something weird or whatever. So, I happen to have my hand up by my face and there it is again.... I sniff the back of my hand. Its the damn watch!

Exactly! I had the same bewilderment only to realise its the watch.. And it doesn't wash off with soap!

Yeah those black rubber straps have a vanilla smell. I usually replace mine with a nice leather strap.....no cookie smell.

Well, after my initial bewilderment, I realized it must just be whatever mold release agent they are using in the molding process for these pieces.

2 generous wipedowns with some Isopropyl Alcohol as a solvent, followed by rinsing with water, and it dramatically cut the scent. The residual scent should wear off in a short amount of time.

Now, you have to be within an inch to catch a slight whiff instead of a 4ft radius.

Mine smells like that too..too overwhelming so I took out the rubber straps immediately and switched to leather..trying to find a way to wash that horrid smell off..
