Do the dealers sell the 005G casebacks seperatedly if asked? Would they fit most CN made 005's?

I'm trying to get an Asian 005, Josh/Andy/DSN's 005G caseback, and swap the movement with Swiss, along with thicker crown, relume with C1 for better color, etc. Or get Swiss 005, and do the same for cosmetics; whatever is cheaper. I don't care about swan neck and correct markings on the movement as it will have a closed caseback. As a matter of fact, I probably want nonmarked Swiss 6497 to know for sure I have a Swiss mov'.

Does this sound do-able, or stupid? How much would something like this cost after labor?

Please PAM experts! Let me know if this is quite do-able.

It's certainly do-able. One thing that I'd worry about is if the dial from the Asian auto would fit a 6497. The dial feet are certainly one thing (but fixable, from what I understand). The bigger issue would be the seconds subdial spacing.

No idea the total cost of a project like that. I'd bet you'll end up north of $300 and south of $500? Keep in mind that's a WAG.

EDIT -- In fact, I'd spend the extra $70 and get the A6497 instead of the auto and just have it serviced. No need to swap it out right away, as these have proven to run accurately and well once they are cleaned/oiled. As you pointed out, no one will see the movement anyway. It will probably be cheaper in the long run than trying to swap a Swiss 6497 into the auto powered watch....
