I am a noobie and I started up a recent thread about how to purchase a Paul Newman Daytona. I received some great advice and choose to order a complete set from David Wang and have it constructed by a local jeweller.

All was going well, the parts were shipped and received promptly and looked great. However my jeweller guy had a problem as soon as he took out the temporary crown pin, the vertical hour hand wheel seemed to drop into the movement thus preventing him from inserting the correct crown pin into the movement. This guy is not a watch maker but has done simple repairs and construction to watches.

So, I have pm'd David to explain however I understand that it is the Chinese new year and I doubt if I will receive a reply for a week or so.

I've written this post to see if this a common problem and what can I realistically expect from the supplier (replacement?). Also if I do have problems receiving a replacement, can anyone fix this for me.

First time, first problem......that is the replica world I suppose!

The stem he removed is most likely the one that will need to be used with the movement and it's possible the keyless-works got screwed up. I'm not sure what you are talking about as far as the "the vertical hour hand wheel seemed to drop into the movement" means...

sounds like a keyless work issue, why don't you just order a full watch?

I bought the parts because I was told that David Wang supplied the best PN case etc. What do I need to do to get this fixed?

I think the vertical hour hand wheel is probably the wheel wheel in the keyless works that sets the time, although that's not the correct term for it.

Not a big problem for a qualified watch repair man. Take it to a professional. Where are you located. Maybe someone can give you an idea of who can help.

I am located in Atlantic Canada (Eastern) and believe it or not there is no local qualified watch repairers. Any assistance would be appreciated.

7750 chrono movements are tough to work on.
Here's a dis-assembly/assembly tutorial:http://www.eta.ch/swisslab/7750/7750.html

When you get towards the end you'll see a sliding pinion and a winding pinion. This is probably where your problem is. Fortunately you don't have to take the whole movement apart to get to it.

I can give you the name of a guy in Chicago that can either fix the movement or finish the watch for you. PM me if you need it.
