3717 V3 hands on ETA7750???

I'm really itching to get this watch. I've been lusting after it for months and it's been a bit of a grail watch so I want a good one that will last a long time. So besides the "mandatory" mods of aftermarket AR, ddw, and maybe lume, I thought about getting the A7750 serviced so it will last. However, it looks like that will be around $200 just for the asian movement service. Well a new ETA is $350-$400. So I'd rather get a new Swiss movement for a bit more and that will also take care of the ddw since they come with the movement. And maybe there is some salvage value from the leftover A7750 if I could sell it.

So that brings me to the issue I've read about on the posts of the A7750 being a bit off from the Swiss. So are the Asian posts smaller and the hole on the hands can be enlarged with a small drill bit? Or how would this work? Anyone done this mod on a V3 or are all these ETA mods done on older V1 watches with the old low beat A7750?

Or alternatively, if someone could point me to a V1 watch, that would work too. (I think)?

Thanks.

You'll most likely have to score a set of gen hands to work on the eta. I've been looking for weeks now, myself. I had the same idea as you.

Should not be a problem for a skilled modder or watchmaker to make the high beat A7750 hands fit a gen ETA 7750. So there is no need to source gen hands for a movement swap.

There is if you've seen one with gen hands.

Ubi did the swap and installed gen hands on his and they're amazing. The tubes are silver instead of brass like the rep hands.

Contact Guru via PM if he doesn't post here. I think Takashi has done one of these as well. Do a search for 3717 and see what it generates. I think the issue is the center seconds hand is too large so you have to mod the tube.

Believe me, I've done the search (here and the other forms) and looked at every post on the 3717. Takashi's was a V1. Maybe I've missed something but I haven't seen any ETA movement swaps on a V3. V1 isn't available anymore.

The gen dial and hands looks so sweet in the macro shots but it would be $1k+ for the project. That's too much right now. It would be the near perfect franken though. Maybe someday...

Now that is a whole other thing JB&G. Have sourced a gen dial and hand set myself for my soon to be completed 3717 franken, because of its beauty - not because I needed to.. :)

However, the original question by Hammy was whether or not the hands of a high beat A7750 could be used on a Swiss movement and it can after some modding.

I have a modded v1 myself, but mine is with a high beat movement. So not all v1's has got hands that needs no modding when going for a Swiss heart transplant.

But you do not have to worry Hammy, people have gone Swiss before with their high beat v3's. I know Ziggy is capable of performing the mod, for example. And I bet Vac can do it too!

It works...don't think it requires much work, Vac does these all the time. He has mine now for a swap and other stuff. He never said anything about problems.

The swap is possible as I have done one on v3 as well. Similar method like what I wrote on Cousteau Divers 2006 ETA 7750 movement swap.

no problem with v3, the movement is still the same so the hands will fit ETA 7750.
Which country are you from? I have a modder he can do it for you, incl lume , movement swap or service.

Ok, that's good to know it can be done. I'm in the US. I'm familiar with Dom in the EU but I'd rather not have to deal with customs issues. I got nabbed for $50 in extra charges on my last rep deal. It's seems the other name that comes up a lot is Vac but he seems to be a bit overwhelmed right now. He has not replied to my email for over a month.

Any one else recommended for movement swap and lume?

EDIT: takashi, I found your tutorial on the movement swap. Definitely doesn't sound like a DIY so I'll need some help from a skilled modder. Thanks for the info. I'll will be going for your crystal swap as well.
