I have started my first mod project, SeaDweller, which has a 21j movement held in with a plastic movement holder. While I was putting the watch back together and inserting the holder, the stem snapped. Anyone know where I can get just the stem?
Thanks

I'm sure somebody has a dead 21j movement. Come on guys.

The bigger question is how did you snap a stem trying to re install it. Tell me you didn't try and put the movement in the case with the stem still in the movement??

I'm at a bridal conference with the woman. walking around playing on rwi. I'm almost 100 percent sure I have one. Let me check when I get home and I will PM you if I do!

Thanks for the assist. I installed the movement, then the retainer, then the stem. The movement slipped a little when I was adjusting the retainer and when I went to test the wind, it snapped. This is my first try, but I did quite a bit of research here before hand. Is there a method to inserting the plastic retainer? Maybe put the movement in the retainer then install into the case? It did not want to cooperate and was not easy to line up. The movement kept sliding a bit.

No, it sounds like you did it right.

I'm used to metal retainers which are a lot better fit. Sounds like you need to use your fingers to hold the movement while you push the stem in, which gets tricky since a lot of 21j movements are hard to insert the stem without pushing the release button down at the same time. (I hate that)

Then you have to be extra careful not to push the button in too far while you're pushing the stem and holding the movement. And , of course you have to make sure the stem hole is aligned up correctly with the tube or it won't want to go.

Best advice I can come up with is go slow and don't force anything.
