Another franken Super Avenger!

For some reason, when I ordered my SA from Hont, I thought the dial would have some major defects, but thankfully it didnt!
Anyway, i had already ordered a gen dial in anticipation....

The dial I got is the latest 2009 SA dial, Volcano Black. Arabics in Stencilled effect. It is indeed very nice. My crappy rushed pics don't show the very subtle difference in definition and texture. Its like the difference between v1 Skyland dial and v2 Skyland dial. The v1 is better (apart from the lume blob & date window).

The rep dial is still very very good...but me being a compulsive tinkerer, I had to do the swap!

Both dials are the same diameter and height

Printing on the rep is less defined as the on the gen....but only by comparison. If you just had the rep, you don't notice. The lume blobs give it away though.

Greased up ring-piece! By the way, the gen dial with movement is a perfect fit for the rep case!

Overall, I'm very happy with the gen dial. At first, when I opened up the packing to see it, I wasn't sure if I liked the stencils...but now I feel that its bang up to date, and it does away with any lume blob issues! Winner!

interesting, the rep dial is missing the red "AUTOMATIC" above the six subdial. is this still correct for some gens as well? and why can't the rep factories screen print the lume like the gen instead of having someone blob a huge chunk of lume on it?
this is such a killer looking watch that could so easily be made perfect with this simple fix.

As for the lume blobs, I wonder if there is a way to smooth that out. just thinking out loud, but what if you place a protective template down and dremel it with a super fine grit... like the ones you use to shape telescope mirrors, and re-lume it. Just thinking out loud of course, I'd hate to see it get trashed on a hunch, but it maybe something to look into.

Yeah the SA is a brilliant rep out of the box, the lume blobs are a giveaway to geeks like us, but your average Joe (and dare I say it, some ADs) might not know the difference! I think that its better than a Skyland.
If you can carry off the monstrous size (with sleeves only for me!) I'd highly recommended one of these reps...they are Super!
The dial is a 2009 release, and it is the latest of Breitlings designs which carry the red Automatic about the subdial. The older design had the text near the date window (ala BCE). You can pick up a gen dial off the bay for around $250 for this one or $350 for the 2009 baton dial.
