I have bought some cow and buffalo leather and just started making some straps..
I am thinking of selling them for about $20-$25 non stitched..

I might add some rivets or few reinforcing stitches like rivets do for a few bucks more..

I have a www.broadarrow.com Elite Style strap I used as a model for lenghts

This strap just fits my wrist with just enough for the keeper to catch it..
I have a 8"wrist and need a 8 3/8"strap..

Whats the smallest size I should make straps to fit?
I also made two sizes of short straps some 3"and some 3 3/8"

Any guidance or opinions appreciated...

Cow Hide little thicker that the buffalo and much stiffer..

I read buffalo is stronger and more durable which I find hard to believe since it is so soft and flexible..

Buffalo Straps and table cover

I'm thinking of selling a few of these..
Do I just list them in members watches for sale???
I don't want a store just not sure if I can and where to list them...

I'm not sure how long I will make these this is just a hobby detour for me..

We can always use more strap sellers, especially if you can create something new or unique for the members. However, if you're planning on selling more than the occasional strap here or there, you should contact either D4ME or LoS for approval; they can also provide guidance to you on how to go about this.

I like the rough, basic style but you should drive holes for custom sizes, so don't pierce em all yet XD

I also suggest the use of rectangular and square hole punches, specially for Pans and big sized buckles in general.
Good luck..

ahw676,

Trust me this is just one of my passing phases...
I may make a few dozen just to learn how to do it and make some folks smile but this is not a money making venture for me.. I may make a few bucks but thats not why I am making them..

I like the cow hide. If I would were making them I would make some on the small side like 125/80. Some of us small wristed people like straps too!

Thanks Coldi,

Kown that the buckle end needs to be in different lengths as I like the buckle in the middle of my wrist and I guess you would not want the other end way to long but they can be cut down the way I put the holes in them..

With my 8"wrist most times the strap is in the last hole but the end never reaches the first keep let along the second and that's just poor design or being cheap..

The cow is either too thick 3/16" (5mm) or too stiff but it works just not as easy to buckle as the thinner more flexible buffalo 5/32"(4mm)
