Greetings. I've got the rep watch bug now and just received a Breitling Skyland Avenger from hont that I will post pics of soon, but I continue to be drawn to the style and appearance of the Submariner. My only concern is the size and try to avoid watches under 41mm. So my question is - what is the largest submariner out there? I've noted the Sea Dweller at 43mm, but again I would love to try out one of the inexpensive subs. Thanks for any advisement.

NO, it´s not 41mm..

Submariners and all sport Rolex (Daytona, GMT-Master, Explorer...) are 40mm. And it´s the only size available for Submariners. Even the newest one, the Ceramic Sub, is 40,5mm.... only difference from the classic old style Subs is that the lugs are fatter, as it has the "Maxi Case" as the GMT-Master Ceramic too
...The only ones that are bigger than that are the DEEPSEA (43mm) and the Yacht-Master II (43mm too)

...The Yacht-Master I is - on the GEN - 41mm wide, so it´s a hair bigger than the Submariner due to its different case, but it´s not the case on the reps.
and no, if you are used to Breitlings, the Submariner will wear small for you. As the Breitlings are WAY thicker than any Rolex.

Cheers,
Spirit.

Hey Spirit. I thought the new 09 Sub Baselworld watch had slightly different specs.
I thought the new SUB had something like 40.5mm or 41mm spec as a new security measure?

No different measure for them nor security measure...
...The new Submariners have got the Maxi Case as the GMT-IIc have. the main changes for the fatter cases are the Crown Guards and the Lugs, that have a fatter shape, but that doesn´t have any influence on the size of the case itself.

Cases are measured side to side without considering the CGs, so there´s no change on the actual size of a classic Sub to a new Ceramic Sub, no noticeable change at least

The new Ceramic Submariners will wear a little bit bigger than the classic ones, due to the Bezel, which is a bit different and seems to be thicker to acomodate the Ceramic insert, but other than that, the feeling is more unconscious than anything else...It´s like you feel it bigger bacause you see the fatter lugs and CGs, but the size is none the less, the same :)

Cheers,
Spirit.
