After lurking around the forums for a few days and reading hundreds of posts I decided to place an order with hont.

The posts I most enjoyed reading here were buyers accounts and experiences with new transactions, so I decided to post my own.

The product I ordered is a submariner tt blue swiss eta 2836. Hont sent photos of what he proposed to sell, which I'd like to upload and then compare to the product he delivers. However, it doesn't appear this board has attachments enabled. I checked the features against those mentioned in numerous reviews and his photos look stunning.

The price I paid is over USD 300 including shipping, and under 500. So I'm expecting a good quality rep (as far as reps go) which according to all the feedback I've read through here, shouldn't be an issue where hont is concerned.

I spent a few days discussing various models and prices with hont. He is pleasant to deal with and responds quickly.

I used the credit card option. After entering all the details and pressing the submit button, the screen displayed this message:-

Your Order No. xxxxxxx is being processed

We will notify you of the final payment status within 24 hours via email

I'll update the thread when there's something new to post.

Here is a photo of the watch I ordered from hont.

First, welcome to the Darkside. Hont is an excellent choice for your first rep. He has always been very quick to ship and easy to deal with in my experience. Good luck with your first purchase. We will anxiously await the pictures you are required to post as soon as you receive it. :D

Thank you very much brtelec.

A few hours after I confirmed payment had been made, Hont confirmed by email that he would ship asap. So he has been excellent to deal with so far.

I think its important to conclude the thread properly with photos so I'll have plenty to post once the product arrives.

This new forum software is abhorrently slow and it appears at least 3 posts are missing.

Hont sent dispatch details a few days ago, so I'm currently tracking the order. So far it's spent 3 days working its way around the country hont dispatched it from, so hopefully it'll leave that country soon and make its way here.

Let me know when you get that watch and how you like it. I plan to buy this watch, but I've been concerned about how the gold finish looks on a rep. I'm not a huge fan of Rolex - I own a gen that I never wear - but this Rolex is one of the ones I like. What different movements does it come with and why did you decide on the 2836?

The watch has arrived, it is beautiful!

We're very impressed with delivery. We expected it would be here before the end of the week, and it arrived this morning.

The photo in my first post doesn't do it justice, so I'll post my own pix later this evening.

The seconds hand moves around the watch smoothly, the gold looks like gold (my wife thinks so too and she's big on expensive jewelery), and the watch is quite heavy compared to my Gen Tudor gold watch, so it looks and feels genuine.

I've set the time and date so I'll keep an eye on any gain/loss, and I'm attempting to figure out how to tighten the strap by 10mm as it's a tiny bit loose around my wrist.

@jad648

Apparently if hont says it's Swiss ETA 2836-2 then that's what it'll be, and I decided it was worth paying extra for a mechanism that's reportedly closer to the genuine rolex models. I might pop the back off when I've got time to be careful and take a look, if I do, I'll post photos of that as well = )

I took a dozen photos and they all came out blurry. So I'll get my wife to take more when she's got time as she's better with the camera than me.

I figured out how to take a link out so now the fit is perfect. The underneath of the link isn't gold plated/wrapped, it's just gold metal .. but close enough of a color match for one to need to look hard to spot the difference. Frankly I was surprised about that "little detail" as I hadn't found it mentioned in any other reference material in the forum.

The number printed on the hologram sticker on the back is partly faded .. no big deal but a little surprised about that as well.

Unless something horrible goes wrong then my overall happiness is about 95 out of 100 so we'll definitely be buying from hont again = )

This ones worse but you can see the links a bit better.

My Hont 2 Tone Also Just Arrived.

I also just made my first purchase of a rep from Hont and my experience was exactly the same. I used a credit card and my watch was here in about 1 week with accurate tracking by EMS throughout.
I purchased the ceramic TT stainless and gold with the blue face. The blue is lighter than yours and exactly the same as seen in Pillworks collection. Mine also has a glide latch style clasp, but without the glide portion. I wanted the glide latch style, but Hont said it was not available on the TT yet, so I was surprised to see it even though it doesn't have the glide portion. The links are polished gold on the top and unpolished gold on the bottom but stainless on the sides. The lume is a blueish green and very bright. Mine did not come with a hologram sticker on the back.
So far I am very happy with my purchase, but I'm not sure if I like the lighter blue as much as the darker blue. No photos at the moment, but maybe soon.

It looks really nice. If you rate it 95 out of a 100 for a rep, it's perfect. Enjoy it!

Does anyone know how often one needs to wind the watch? Mine has stopped twice so far. The first time I wound it about a dozen times and that lasted 3 days. The second time I've wound it a hundred times and I hope it lasts longer than 3 days.

The illumination is also very weak so if you need to see the time in the dark then this isn't ideal for that. The photo hont sent me had bright illumination so there is a difference.

The gold links mark very easily and require constant cleaning so I'm not sure whats up with that.

I wind my reps almost every time I wear them - when you get into the rep business keep in mind these are not genuine watches;so do not xpect them to operate the same my friend :)

Secondly about the illumination - the foto hont took might have used flash or an extra beam when it was being illuminated. The gold links mark easily simply because this is gold plated. A real rolex uses a real chunk of gold and not plating - hence why reps metal shine more.

All in all this is a replica watch you have at hand - yes you will have to wind it more often, or every time you wear it. Do not constantly rub/clean/polish your watch or the plating will wear off; use microfiber if you should. It will not glow like a gen - it is a replica watch and a good one.

So what is up with that ? You'll get used to it when you stop comprehending as a gen.

Peace

It may be the first rep I've purchased but I wasn't born yesterday. I spent a week reading up on reps here so I know what I've purchased and I know it's not a gen. This just happens to be in the higher price range, so I know not to expect a piece of junk. It's a Swiss ETA 2836-2 and I found no mention in other threads about winding frequency and even if it was a gen I'd probably ask the same question as well.

If you'd bothered to read the entire thread you would know I'm evaluating this "item" as a rep. I never made any reference to gen's and I never implied I'm comprehending it as a gen.

Peace
