Hello All,

This site is amazingly helpful to a newbie on the rep scene. I am shopping for my first rep and I was wondering: (forgive me if this has been asked in the past) is it ok to haggle with dealers? I don't want to piss anyone off, but I do have a tendency to try and get something cheaper than the price that's been offered ;)

Also, what is the deal with asking about box and papers? I've read some places that it is rude/wrong to ask if the watch includes the box and papers...why?? If I order a beautiful watch (rep or gen) I want the box and papers! Do most dealers sell them separately?

Thanks everyone

Hi naktowers,

Welcome to the forum, I hope you'll have a good time here and find the watches that you fancy. :)

I guess to some extent it's ok to ask for further discount, freebies, etc, from the suppliers especially if you're ordering with a considerable amount (not in the seller's daily special though). Just don't expect them to give in. :) Of course, over time if you manage to develop a good rapport with a particular seller, it'll be easier for you to ask for better prices and better discounts.

I don't think it's rude to ask for boxes etc, the sellers will quote you a price anyway since boxes are sold separately. :)

Please find time to browse in the Welcome Center section of the forum, you'll get to know some of the members here and you'll find lots of info about what to expect with a rep watch, basic care etc (such as, reps are mostly not waterproof).

Goodluck with your first rep! Have fun.

Best regards,
madcatlancelot

Hello and welcome. It never hurts to ask for the best price, but don't expect to get discounts right from jump street unless you are buying an unusually large amount of watches at once.
(say more than 4)
Most of the time you can develop a relationship with a dealer and discounts are easier to obtain at that point.
Boxes...
Nothing wrong with asking for them...99.9 % of the time you will pay another fee. It would be odd one of our trusted dealers would include it in the price because as they are a completely separate entity.
Hope that helps!
Have fun.

MCL, ColdI & MrZoso are correct. Unless previously stated, boxes are sold separately. If you ask for boxes all the dealers will charge you extra, however, ask if they'll give you a discount for buying them together.

Great, thanks for the info guys!

I will ask and see if I can get a discount if I buy the watch with the box and papers. After reading the reviews here I am thinking about buying my first rep with Hont. Wish me the best!
