Hi Guys,

I want to buy my wife a nice watch as a surprise, but am struggling to decide what to buy.

If I describe her perhaps you can help me...

She's not interested in the make so it doesn't matter what which I choose, though probably nothing too sporty looking. and not a Cartier Santos as she has one already.
She's a very elegant, tall and slim black lady and looks a bit like Iman 8)

I suppose I'm struggling with her skin colour and what would suit her best.

Any ideas? Many thanks.

Chris

Iman? Well I guess anything as long as she's naked. Ahem.... :D

Actually just about anything will look good on her. SS, gold doesn't matter. I usually suggest going with quartz for ladies. But if she lika da big ones then the possibilities are endless.

I'd prefer nothing overly blingy so gold wouldn't work really. I've seen watches with a white porcelain type finish and wondered how that would look, or would there be too much contrast?

I agree with Fakey. The J12 is a great watch or get a Rolex MOP dial full SS with an ETA movement and you will be good too!

The J12 was what I was thinking of but didn't know the name. Seeing it now its probably not what I'm looking for, but thanks anyway.

I remember a short while ago seeing a young lady in London wearing a roly and it looked great on her, very stylish indeed.

I'm having a Daytona built for myself by SpinMaster as we speak, so I'll ask if he does ladies as well.

Can anyone point me to rep dealer photos of ladies Rolex? I'm struggling to find any.

Thanks chaps!

From a price stand point I think Hont would be your best bet or D4m. I've dealt with both and both are superb

I think I've found the watch I want.
Ladies Rolex Yacht Master. Does anyone know if this can be found with a pink face?

I prefer the look of the YM. I was just being greedy trying to find a pink face as well. She'd probably prefer the white face anyway!

Now the search begins to find a good one! I've PM'd SpinMaster so I'll see what he says.

Thanks everyone, you made that very easy!!

If she has a Tank and likes it, check out this watch:
http://www.watcheden.com/cartier-ballon ... 8-p-1.html

I got this for my girlfriend, and she loves it. It's a really good looking rep and she even got a compliment at the Cartier store in NYC! Watcheden has this watch in all different variations (chrono, tourby, two tone, full gold, leather straps, etc..). Also if she is a bigger woman, or likes bigger size watches you can get the men's version for her which is only like 41mm so it's not too big. It's a really classy watch and also can be worn daily since the gen is not obnoxiously expensive.

I would second the Ballon Bleu. One of the prettiest watches out there today.

If she is slim, then you will want something that complements that attribute. The tank is a good choice and I can see why she likes it as it has slim lines in its design. However, it can be a bit weighty for certain events. I would recommend the Bvlgari "B Zero 1" line as it is slim, light weight and versitle. Unlike the tank's rectangular design, the B Zero 1 has a narrow braclet and a circular designed time piece. Though I would normally suggest circle type watches to average size women, I think that the B Zero 1 is elligant and more fitting a slim woman.

Here's a link to watcheden's B Zero 1: http://www.watcheden.com/bvlgari-b-zero-1-with-white-dial-diamond-marking-i-25432-p-1.html

the men size YM are nice, I have not seen a woman or mide size YM which are ok, they are a piece of shit.IMO
If you want a Rolex, how about a Explorer 1, mid size . You do not like the J12, how about the new lady HBB?
and one question you should answer before you buy anything, quartz or automatic? I strongly believe, girls like
the quartz better :D

Aaaarrrrrggghhhhh!!! Too much want!!!!!

I think I've decided upon a quartz YM. Just need to decide on colour and source a good one.

The one in this post looks lovely and look very genuine to my (admittedly) untrained eye...
What do you think?
