I am beginning to get a bit tired of using automatic watches, I respect all people that like them but since I have job that is too much office work I get frequent stops of the movement. It is just too embarrassing to be late for things just because the watch has stopped....

Is there for example a super avenger anywhere that looks exactly like the good replicas but with just plain old battery movement?

i have spent hours on all the trusted dealers sites searching for good quartz (my preference)

I have found that you must do this to answer your question

most of the quartz watches will turn out to be glass instead of sapphire

yea, that was exactly my fear. Too bad since my experience so far is that all my other old cheap watches works far better and more reliable than the auto movement replicas...
Sure I can visit the repair shop every now and then + anciously shaking my wrist all day in front of the computer in fear of that otherwise it may stop...

The sapphire is the only thing I think is important on the rep apart from the looks
And that is about the only point where my replicas stand out and doesnt collect scratches.. but why buy a less reliable auto movement with such big risk of something going wrong compared to getting quarts that will surely work for 2 years non stop without any thought about moving the wrist enough or manually winding....

Sure I will be confident that I have a "complicated" movement hidden inside the enclosure but no one else will know.

But it seems like the standard procedure out there

1. Cheap watches, bad replica, cheap mineral glas, quartz
or
2. accurate model, perfect finish, auto movement, sapphire

noting inbetween

   potential business area for sellers??? wink wink, hello????

there are a few exceptions - search for "quartz" - someone answered a question of mine on this

some are advertized as "swiss quartz"

there are a few out there, but you have to search them out

I think there is a snobbishness around quartz

I just ordered my first quartz rep...
AP Roo white face and yes I know its not very accurate rep but I like the look and I am not ready to spent close to $500 for the automatics w/ working 12 just yet. I think it will make for a good daily beater and where I live I don't think 99percent of the folks have even heard of AP.

Search Time4Direct for quartz. Rob has a good selection, some with AR on glass, which is nice if you want to see the dial in all its splendor (poor man's sapphire?).

There are quartz reps out there you will be happy with - just find a rep quartz of a gen in quartz (both my cartier reps are quartz). Tag is a good option too.

Hi Zap,

exactly my thinking as well! :D I had a white Navitimer SS 6-9-12 (7750) that went all funky on me. Movement died, winder went very stiff and the chrono would not reset to 0.

I would love a quartz Navitimer with a deep AR coating. That's all I want! It's very simple dealers!!!

I have a navitimer with 7750 and I have a few 21J's in other watches. The 7750 has about a 14 hour reserve, but the 21j's have at least 24 hour reserve because the movement is more simple than the 7750. So basically, if you sit around in an office for say 8 hours, your watch should not be stopping. Besides you have to to go the bathroom, eat lunch, etc... All of this whindes the watch, if your watch stops from a few hours of non use, there is something wrong with it!

Just remembered. There is a thread over at RWG2 about a nice Navi quartz rep. Not a bad piece at all for a beater, cheap too.

on the crystal said sapphire.
Recommended.
