Hi all,

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up, and she mentioned that she doesn't like replicas. Was planning to get her a J12....damn. My budget is below $200. So far I have identified two watches on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180402675833&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310165549016&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Anymore brands or ideas? She's used to wearing small watches, so I am not sure if she will like the Zodiac watch which is 41mm.

get here the J12, the 200 USD version comes with a box set and she will not find out that it is a rep. Stay simple, black or white and no blink!

I was thinking of the plain white ceramic model, but what if she finds out eventually? Isn't that suicide?

The Zodiac is huge isn't it? at 41mm thats a chunky ladies watch.

I prefer the Tissot. Nice watch, reputable name, no nonsense quartz, elegant style.

Both watches are very different making selection difficult. Strap or bracelet, big or small. Choose based on what her likes are.

Good luck.

She'll find out! You have a 200$ budget and you come home with a watch worth 20 times your budget! Your a rep collector! In her mind 1 and 1 will make 2!

Go for the Tissot, really nice and reputable!

PS: Just got my wife a J12

How long have you two been a couple? Your budget is under $200. Would your girlfriend really believe you dropped $5,000 on her for a watch? I wouldn't spend $5g on my wife, let alone my girlfriend.

Unless perhaps, your girlfriend found out about your wife? In which case, get her the J12 gen.

see what i found, i bought on of this for my Gf when she turned 19,

you should afford if and she'll love the brand ; "Guess"
plus i think girls like this kind of watch since i have 2 other friends who have it.

have a look at real jewlery it shouldn't be more expensive that those one.

there is also a model with leather bracelet.

this should get you a nice reward ...

does your GF knows anything about watches at all? You can tell here the
cheaper version is a quartz version, only the automatic movements are expensive!
Anyhow, it is a nice watch and If she really loves you, she will appreciate your present when
she gets it!

I kind of agree with Guru on this one. Its sort of risky but the J12 is such a nice watch and very close to the gen, that she won't know the difference. What I would do, is get the J12, let her wear it and enjoy it for a few days, then tell her its a rep. If she likes the watch, she will appreciate the quality so much that she will be amazed and applaud you for your taste and fiscal ingenuity.

Got to say I like the Zodiac but it depends what kinda of clothes she usually wears. If she is the 'smart casual' type maybe a Guess or Tissot watch is better suited but if she is more casual, sporty and trendy the Zodiac watch may suit better. I have a Zodiac Divers chrono watch and they are beautiful and very trendy looking. I wouldnt neccessarily be put off by the size as alot of girls wear large watches/mens watches and seems to be the trend these days. Tough decision though, but I reckon a Guess/Tissot watch is a safer option.

Thanks idiomea, it just so happens that we were discussing about Guess brand today but I think I will go with the Tissot.

And NO..I am not married. Given that she is currently working/studying, it will be hard to pull off a J12, hence I think its not a sensible gift.

The Gen J12 will come in the future if she becomes my wife. BUT not before I buy myself a Gen Panerai first :D

How about this: Find an add for a watch you'd really like to buy her and include it with the gen you can afford right now. Tell her you wish you could, but promise to eventually buy her the watch in the add.
Definately get a gen... it's the only thing she told you- she does not like reps. Absolutely do not get her one!

How about a lightly used TAG Quartz?
