Yo wasap Im a lil late to the thread but hey I made it. Im going to sand diego state, and I wear my SA white (silver) dial everyday everywhere. Its about as flashy as you can get without adding diamonds. You know what.....most nobody notices what the heck you are wearing. Everybody is either checking out the hot guy or gal walking past them. I only had 2 compliments form to people. 1 a hot library assistant that I bet knew what watch I was wearing and 2 from the foreign exchange student from Switzerland the was wearing a navitimer (I seat some bullets the first time i meat him haha).

Case in point, like has been said, where what you want, though beware, a rolex might get you noticed but, i counted a lot of them that i know where reps.

and sorry...an SA? whats that?

still a noob [smilie=alien.gif]

how do you feel about the omega smp james bond.... in the reallity not to expensive (2k€),
or the tag heuher tiger wood.
you can go with a rolex explorer 1
IWC aquatimer with ruber bracelet
check out oris as well

my opinion : there are too many watches for us to give you a useful advice,
why don't you check the reviews others have made (Pix, By-tor, Meyer8888....)

nobody pointed this out, if you can't afford a 5k$ gen don't buy a 30-80k$ rep if you are called out rep you might feel like a fool....

i just graduated 5th year senior... i only wear rolex so far. its a university, nobody knows jack sh*t about watches and the costs associated with such luxury watches, especially ROLEX. yeah, everybody knows the name and the "sweeping second hand" but other than that, they have no clue what a gen looks like let alone the nit picky crap we whine about. Nobodys gonna be like, oooh look at those solid mid links! or your pearl is crap and your crown is fat. people are too busy looking at girls mini skirts and cleavage shots to care whats on your wrist.

wear what goes with your style and personality... i personally have wanted a PAM since the first time i saw one but i kept buying another rollie! Rolex will never go out of style, they are just too damn classic.

I was at a bar and this girl saw my rolex and said, "rolex? thats old manish..." and i was like, "oh yeah, what kinda watch do you like on guys?" She said, "i like guys who wear Nixon." I looked at her and said, "so your into tools.." and walked off. Next thing you know shes following me around trying to get on my nuts. 8) This also comes to show you that girls (who know nothing about watches) compare a company like Nixon to Rolex! is there even a comparison???

Another story,
i was sitting next to a friend polishing off my rollie and he said, "is that real?" and i gave it to him. I told him its fake, and he proceeds to say, "i can tell by the weight..." little did he know it weighs exactly the same as the gen. again.. nobody knows a thing about fake watches no matter how common or popular they are. people will act like they know all the time... regurgitating the crap information they have learned over their measly 20 something years about fake watches. unless they are a member of one of these three forums, they havent got a clue.

fakey sums it up, people will think your rep is a fake before they think its a gen... if they care at all

Wear what ever makes YOU happy. F*ck everybody else, cause guess what! nobody gives a sh*t whats on your wrist except you!

many here definitely agree with this statement.... i personally dont. who the hell knows what a patek is??? 19 times out of 20, if you asked random people on the street. what is generally more expensive. a rolex or a patek? a rolex or cartier? the majority would say rolex or say the other name just for the sake that its probably a trick question.

how many people know how much the average rollie costs?? i guarantee the majority would underestimate. somebody looked at my watch and said, " is that real? its gotta be like $1,200..." we all know... what rolex cost $1,200??

Personally I couldn't afford to spend $800 on a gen. Yet look at the reps I own. Its not about trying to pass off a rep as a gen to me. If it was the sure i'd get called out and sure it would be embarrissing. For me I like expensive watches because of the design. They are reps and whenever any asks I tell em they're reps. So bugger it I say. If you see a rep of a watch that is $100,0000 gen and you like it..... BUY IT!
Thats what it is all about. posting.php?mode=reply&f=1&t=57600#

wow guys...thanks for the replies :O

i agree with the 'wear what i want' concept. I personally don't care if they say its a rep..I don't think i'll feel like a fool. At least i own a watch...of some sort

getting the watch purchased soon in asia as we speak :)

getting a PP or Panerai...or an IWC ...we'll see whats up soon.

okay, based on the countless threads i've been reading, i'm guessing most of you guys are....err...old :D
what i mean is..beyond university years, working or retired :)

Wel that depends on what you study
- Medical professions: A good Quartz, Timex or a Casio. Could as well be digital.
- Law: Everything with a Tourbillion will do. STRICTLY NO FAKES! Either you can afford to be in law or not. Your choice.
- Business Studies: Tag Heuer.
- Computer Science: Don't buy a watch, buy a better notebook instead. and a smartphone. and a server. NAS can't hurt either.

The way you asked your question i'd say a TAG is for just for you.

Oh some here now my opinion on Tags :D

it wont be your last...

if your truly worried about that common question, "is it real?" we have threads on what to say back... some good responses too.

but really, if you think you cant take it, iwc and PAMs are beautiful options.

PAMs especially! its a simple and modern look. not too flashy and are easy on the eyes. plus... you get to change the pants on it! from the rustic faded to the classy croc. you cant go wrong!

Now I'm wondering about two things...

Who here is still in university, like me :)

And is there any suggestion, about what to wear and what not to wear to university? What i mean is, getting a watch that is not to flashy, but its COOL and has class at the same time. A watch that says, I'm mature, but not an old man who wears watches that looks like it came from the 1800's (don't get me wrong i love all kinds watches)...

yes im laughing at my post, sometimes i just wonder about the most random things.

In my opinion, it depends on:

- The university we're talking about, because some people actually wear a rolex or breitling in Stanford, but not in any State university.

- Your budget.

I know a lot of people will dissagree with me, but I if you don't want a watch that is supposed to cost 5 to 10K, I think Nixon's are under estimated. I owned 4, and still have one on my wrist right now.

These are strong and well finished watches. Of course, nothing compared to a gen rolex, but as I understood, that's not what we're talking about :)

My personnal favorites are The Player Ceramic White ($2500): http://fr.nixonnow.com/watches/elite/th ... -A145.html

The Banks All Black ($700): http://fr.nixonnow.com/watches/mens/the-banks-A060.html

The 51-30 PU Phantom ($700): http://fr.nixonnow.com/watches/mens/the ... -A058.html

Cheers.

OH so only young people have Cool Taste...

I guess you want a U-Boat......

But if you was wise like us old dudes you might buy a Britling..

Just make sure the bracelet is very loose and watch flops around as that adds to the cool look I think..

danyboy, I can see why you think everyone on here is old judging by the number of wrist shots that feature chunky knitwear.
For that sophisticated university student look I'd reccomend a pocket watch and a monocle.
Or if you want to look young then you should consider the Ingersoll Mickey Mouse watch - it's a classic.
