So I got my shiny 3717 today from Precious Time with a SS strap. Yes, I promise photos. The deal went well (and I learned my first lesson regarding Asian Movements and what to avoid ;))

While steel looks cool, the 3717 wants a black leather strap, preferably with white stitching. However, at 21mm lug width this is quite difficult. The Watchboys in Canada have one but without the shiny thing (clasp?). Ebay is offering mostly crap - fake alligator straps and stuff. Some "BOB" strap, allegedly manufactured to "IWC OEM specs". Makes me wonder why IWC would allow OEMs.

So you IWC experts: What black strap would you recommend (EU sources preferred due to lower shipping cost).

Thank you very much in advance,

You could always try sending a PM to tootall. He should be able to custom make to whatever size you need, plus color of leather and stitching.

The 21mm Bob straps somehow seem more fit for a dresswatch like a Portu or an F.A. Jones!
I think a 3717 needs a more sturdy looking strap!
You may be able to squeeze a 22mm strap in the 21mm gap. I did this on my Top Gun with a Steinhart black aviatorstrap.

It ended up looking like this:

Did you go through Ebay or a normal retailer?

I did look at the Steinhart straps but thought that 22mm will look a bit fake on my fake. Now I see that it is possible.

I'd rather have a distinguished strap. No prob wearing a 3717 with a dress. Quite often I wear a fat Citizen divers watch (the one with the sensor _underneath_). The contrast is nice.

DrVL,

Another vote for the Steinhart straps.

I have this one coming for my own new IWC 3717, should be here next week:

http://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.ph ... t_ID=1#171

I asked for one without the Steinhart name on the buckle.

I'll post some pictures when I install it on the watch! ;)

one of the steinhart fatal flaw is that the circle thingy that hold the strap in place (once you put the strap through the buckle you pull the strap through the holder thingy, damn i can't remember what it's called), it's simply too big so the tip of the strap becomes loose... i've had 2 steinhart straps, both have this problem

I have tried a few type of straps for my 3717. The best one turns out to be a pair of croc straps from TWB. He sells from eBay:

Takashi, do you have his full ebay name, or a link to his store? I'm getting a 3717 soon, and I really like the look of that strap. (Or maybe it's just your photo skills).

Thanks.
