Hi,
first of all sorry for my English that is very poor.
It's my first post in this worthy forum and until today I have never bought a rep watch.
I'm interested in IWC Portuguese Chrono - Asian 7750 28800BPH.
At the moment I'm rather confused because I have read many opinion about the rep models' watches and all of them show the quality or the defects like the watch that I could purchase from a dealer (e.g. Puretime or Timesshop or WackoBirdKeeper or others) is the same watch in every shop. Is it so ?
So my question is: in which shop is possible to find the best rep IWC Portoguese Chrono with 7750 movement ?
Sorry if my question seem silly, but at the moment I have find any explanation for it.

Thanks a lot for the answers.

Gio.

no, its not a silly q.

i LOVE the portuguese, but the movt. is not reliable :(

they haven't fixed it...

it wont matter which dealer, you will go with.... it'll depend entirely on the watch....some get lucky and get a good watch, other's not so lucky.

I've heard doing a graphite treatment to the movt. helps lessen the wear on the movt.

read these... maybe it'll help

Ive read a bit on the topic, if you can get a watchsmith to clean the movement up and properly lubricate it, especially the center seconds transfer wheel with some graphite, it should be ok (with some luck) for a fairly long time. the problem is that this transfer wheel isnt jeweled and the movement is laboring hard to overcome the friction. Graphite partially removes the friction, thus easing the load on the movement.

If you dont get it serviced, you can never know when it stops running..

I am just about to purchase this watch and I have noted these threads....now I am concerned that I spend $290 including postage and paypal charges for a watch that has a bad quality movement..hmmmmm

Are there any other more reliable movements that can be supplied with the Portoino Chronograph.?

Cheers

If you buy the automatic version of the Portuguese you will need to spend a lot more before your watch is sorted. As a minimum a graphite treatment. Possibly a new Gen movement, which is difficult to fit.
The Portofino does not have the same issues.
In my opinion both of them will also require a new strap. The rep straps are horrible.
In addition to the graphite treatment and strap I have also chosen to have the crystal AR treated.
All in all this Portuguese will end up costing me over $500. At that amount you may want to look into buying a Gen.
