iOffer or not to iOffer

That is the question...

There is a watch i really would like to have on ioffer.
Apparently the seller sold one to the EU couple of days ago> The item was listed in May, he sold only that one and has 2 pieces in stock according to his offer.

I've been in contact with all of our dealers to source this watch, but it's discontinued. The factory has no stock anymore and our dealers can't source and other dealers not on this board (like the "twins") are unable as well.

Has anyone of you experience with ioffer? Would you do it?

Well you never actualy said what it is or where it is. No one has this watch. No one can find this watch. No one except this one guy. So let me ask you this. Does that not set off some kind of red alert in the back of your mind?

It would help if you told us what watch it was you were after as someone reputable might have it too.

Panerai PAM 225 Slytech.

I've contacted Hont, Robert, Mark, Ruby, JAndrew and some more regarding this.
I have an open order with Watcheden, which confirmed stock to me 3 times the day i ordered and reported non-stock 2 hours after my order and asked me which alternative watch i want. Well none really.

And then i found this one:
http://www.ioffer.com/i/panerai-slytech ... -105760513
In fact i found a video on youtube first and if you are "in the know" it's pretty easy to spot the rep. So i contacted that bloke and he pointed me to that above offer.

Ok here is what makes me tick careful at the moment and not jump it:
- the guy on youtube was saying he is from HK and he bought all his watches including his 225 from that bloke. Well i can't find a buyer from HK for that watch on the list.
- the pictures are from JAndrews website.
- i'd assume the text as well by the looks.

What makes me reluctant to dismiss it:
- the feedback is ok-ish, it looks genuine for the most part
- the buyer of the 225 appears to be genuine as well. The purchases are from differnt sellers, the purchases made add up. If you break it down to statistics, he doesn't look like a "feedback whore", an account that is created (or even shared) between multiple dealers to generate feedback.

I have no idea.... :(

Try contacting the guy who bought one before and ask him for some pictures and maybe ask a few questions see if any alarm bells ring.
It's hard when your heart says yes but your head says no...
Choose wisely, for while the true Grail will bring you life, the false Grail will take it from you. :D

Pcsam might have hit on a good option for you; maybe you could post a WTB post and see who else has it.

Even if you agree to buy this thing off iOffer, there's no guarantee that the guy is going to have it "in stock" as soon as he's got your money. At least Tony is honest enough to tell you he can't get it BEFORE he sends you something completely different and keeps your money.

Tony and Sarah (i was dealing with her) are absolutely grand.
I told her i didn't want anything else and she immediately arranged for my money to be refunded to my CC. There is no issue and i do like to do business with Watcheden, and if there would be one i contact them in private and try different routes before openly complaining here.
So if you read this, don't misunderstand this, i like this dealer and would recommend them.

However :)
I think i like andygt's suggestion to contact the buyer... might be worth a try really.

iOffer isn't what it used to be (in the Ufanta days :)). Many scammers out there at the moment it seems.

I second that one. That certainly rings a bell or two in my head. (But that may also be the magic mushrooms I had for lunch.)

Hmmm.. I certainly agree to this as well, especially the last buyer from the Netherlands seem content about this watch and he seems fairly knowledgeable about reps. At least he didn't start by asking "Is this a replica" or scream "it's a copy!" as one of them did. Furthermore, Paris Hilton has bought from him on several occasions! :)

Another plus: He takes PP!

The name Jimmy White rings a bell somewhere. Hmm, can't remember. Anybody else? I haven't got him on my list of iOffer sellers I have bought from.

Anyway. If this is really your holy grail and you have tried everywhere else without luck, you simply will have to go for it! It may be a $300 lesson at worst case. You will most probably receive a watch, maybe a DOA watch, a totally different watch or a bad rep with the wrong movement but you are likely to get some funds back selling it on the forum limiting your loss further.

My vote is: Go for it! (As you know I did it the other day. My DSN Fiddy arrived yesterday and it is a beauty!)

He could send me the effing empty shell (in parts) if it is the "original" replica for all i care. As long as the pile of parts is complete all wold be fine.
I know where to source a 7750 (might even think of getting a genuine one) and i know whom to ask to put it in :)

I have purchased a couple watches off of Ioffer. They were with Tony though before he came here. Very happy with the service. There are scammers there too. I suggest using a form of payment that you have some recourse on in case of non-shipment.

As an OT comment I can say that this is the reason I stopped doing business with WE. It certainly pisses me off that you get confirmation SEVERAL times via e-mail before laying your order and after the money has been drawn from your account you suddenly get the info from one of the "Sarah" or one of the "Tony" that it is not in stock and they ask what other watch I would like instead. And the Tony or the Sarah has no idea that I have inquired several times before laying my order if it was in stock. Yes, you get your money refunded, but be prepared to wait 3-4 weeks. I have no idea where the money is during that time...

Ok, back on topic. Go for it! :)

Well this one is off the table i guess.

He stated that the white one is sold out, only the black one still available.
So apparently he wants to sell his stuff, not rip ppl off.

At least good to know that my "this might work" sense is still working.

Fortunately my grail will stay elusive and will remain my grail for some time to come then :D
Not the worst thing. I enjoy the hunt actually :D

Never had experience with iOffer but had hard bad stories about it so I'm avoiding it. I just go to trusted dealerships on this site.

I do agree that ioffer is something that one shouldn't take lightly. Hell i opened a thread on a forum to discuss it, right?

However i conclude this buyer is legit, as he stated that he hadn't had the item in stock anymore that i was looking for.

Being careful yes, but on tis occasion i was going to go for it actually.

Glad your instincts paid off. At least he knows you're interested; maybe he can email you if he ever comes up with the goods?
