Guys, this website is awesome. I have been looking at buying a Rolex for months and was about to take the plunge and pay over $5,000 for a watch (yeah crazy).

That is until I found this site and I've been up all night and reading everything. I think I'm obsessed now! I've ordered a nice Rolex Submariner from timeshops.net. I'll post my experience once it arrives.

Looking forward to chatting more on here :)

Excited.

You sound just like me. Was gonna buy a gen and then stumbled upon this great forum and now I'm hooked and want more. It's an expensive hobby and requires patience, but it's all worth it.

And good choice with Time Shops. I bought 2 watches there and I am satisfied.

Welcome by the way :)

Thanks Mark :)

Yeah this is not good... I'm finding way too many watches I like. I think I'll wait for this one to arrive, then take my time or I'll end up with a bunch of watches :D

Saw it in person, impressive ! :D
The difference between gens and reps, is that you will start "collecting" watches. I know people who have every colour of the same watch  (SFSO)

As MM said, you're likely to spend your 5K, but for these you'll have much more fun (and hassle sometimes) and will end up in being addict. Don't know if that's good news

Before entering the rep world, I personally never thought of buying an expensive gen.
I'm already sick enough when I have to thinking of expensive reps

Well, you came at a good time. I remember about 8-9 years ago, the replica market sucked badly. Really nothing but quarz and the quality was pretty bad.

They really have made leaps and bounds the past year or two.

I stopped buying the big brand name Gens when I bought a Tag quartz. There was dirt/debree under the saphire crystal, and the second hand didn't strike the markers right on.

I pointed that out to the dealer, mind you this was a $1000 watch, and he says, what do you expect, it isn't a rolex, it's an entry level Tag....

I almost popped the guy up aside his head. Said never again.

Yeah definitely having a good time reading all of these articles and learning all about the different things to look for and just learning about watches in general.

4 watches ordered so far (1 by wife). I'm just so impatient I can't wait for one for arrive :p

The only thing is I had a bid on a Sub on eBay for which I'm still the highest bidder (it's at $2850 USD). There's still 15 hrs remaining so I'm hoping someone outbids me :O

You could be talking about me :D Just joined the forum and already waiting for a 3717 bought at PT and very willing to go after a Ladies ceramic watch and a Breitling chronometer and and and ...

Nice forum, really. And a cool hobby - something quite different from "ordinary" hobbies. And it doesn't make you fat, either :D

Yeah, yeah, you can stop rubing it in now!

Welcome to the OP. If you get the gen Sub at that price don't complain you got a great deal. If you don't want it you can allways sell it here when you have enough posts to do so. Would not be hard to shift at that price.

Regards, Col.

seriously though col, how cool is it that a new member of a rep forum wins a gen platinum rolex yacht master? the rolex forum doesn't even do this! :D
