Re: WARNING ABOUT SUBMITTING YOUR DRIVERS' LICENSE TO WATCHEDEN

This is no fault of Watcheden it will be the CC proccesors they use I beleive it is TTO or CTO both now have zero credibility with the clearing banks so this will be a restriction they have had placed on them.
You can expect to see more of this to be honest as the proccesors that don't care about dealing with rep sites are getting more closely monitored by the clearing banks.
Don't be suprised if in the next 12 months WU/MG and bank transfer is the only way available to pay it's something that is almost bound to happen.
Personally I wouldn't send the requested information it's a licence to steal you ID and money

Paypal are already the worse if they have even a clue that rep items are involved they will lock both yours and the dealers account for 6 months then close it.
They are guaranteed to go particularly with people charging back etc

I understand, but that's not the issue. This is a MAJOR change in how Watcheden was conducting its business. They did this without the authority or input from the RWI Admin team. And if the only two choices are sending a drivers licence vs. paying by WU or MG, then Watcheden will have to accept only WU and MG. There are really no circumstances in which I would think it appropriate for an RWI member to send information like this to a dealer.

Everyone... I moved watcheden's section to an invisible part of the forum and moved two of the threads considering this issue out into the open...

I don't think there is malicious intent in asking for the info but it is definitely dangerous to send that kind of info halfway around the world... if his credit card processor is restricting him that much then he needs to remove that as a payment option....

Hmmmm. Could this be an attempt to bust rep buyers? If all the bank are going to start wanting this info, it could also be used to track down buyers so Rolex could sue them.

Probably not. But still, scary.

Re: WARNING ABOUT SUBMITTING YOUR DRIVERS' LICENSE TO WATCHEDEN

it is very good from the Admin team to protect the members, but I would like to know if people really would send this information to a dealer in China....I never would do that to buy a watch, enough other dealers around.

Re: WARNING ABOUT SUBMITTING YOUR DRIVERS' LICENSE TO WATCHEDEN

I have experience in the "online marketplace".

Things like this are usually brought on by a billing company.

For instance....possibly last week 300 orders were placed & 150 of them were "chargebacks".

Their billing company hit them up & said....."You are suspected of fraudulent charges....the only way you can stay in business, is to prove that your orders are legit".

I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED.

I AM SAYING....that i have seen this happen before with billing companies/online money transfer institutions.

I personally never sent them my ID's of course : )

exactly.... i just got into this "scene" 2 days ago....but I've been in many "scenes" before

this is always what happens in shady processing situations

the real trusted dealers will drop their prices by 25% and offer WU/MG

then once or twice a year like clock-work.....those companies will take 100 orders & run/go outta business with a bunch of peoples $

I've seen this 100 times in all different kinds of online businesses. Fortunately a board like this limits a users risk of buying, making forums like this MUCH MORE POPULAR in the near future.

Meh. I don't think so. I think it's probably nothing more sexy than just Watcheden's credit card processing company demanding more information to make sure there are no fraudulent charges. And again, and I want to emphasize this, I have no reason to doubt that Watcheden has a legitimate business reason for asking for this information. As LoS said, no one thinks they're doing this maliciously. But the RWI Admin and Mod Squad simply aren't comfortable allowing this practice from a dealer that we've endorsed.

Re: WARNING ABOUT SUBMITTING YOUR DRIVERS' LICENSE TO WATCHEDEN

I am new here and ordered a McQueen Monaco rep from them a few
weeks ago. Was never asked for any documentation, I just payed
by CC on there website and got the dreaded "payment" issue.
But the next day sarah confirmed order, with a tracking number
a day later. I received the watch a week ago, no problems.
I am very happy with the watch and the service to me was
great. I did this all based apon all the members information
and recomendation from this board. I thank you all.
Sorry to here of this situation.

Wise decision, as it's not the first time, and a clear and valid reason for asking such datas should be given.
BTW if other dealers can take PP, why don't they ? I know there have ben members abusing with filling in PP claims. But it's just as easy to ask for a CC chargeback.

Re: WARNING ABOUT SUBMITTING YOUR DRIVERS' LICENSE TO WATCHEDEN

Pix,
Paypal will freeze an account at the drop of a hat...
They would side with buyer most times in eBay issue I am sure for Reps they would freak if they knew..

The Charge Back issue maybe due to few times I have placed an order just to see Payment Failed..
The last time I ordered I had three payments show up in my online Bank page but they said that two will drop off after a few days as some had failed..

I was freaking beacuse it looked like a regular charge and had to call them..

I wish they had a solid payment gateway...
