What's the strangest food you have eaten?

well that is nothing particular for French people, although I don't like these dishes actually. But I know it's something that looks weird for foreigners.

What was a weird experience for me :
- Haggis
- all kinds of organs : liver, tongue, kidney...

I was not told what it was before I eat it, and It did taste good.

After I had finished it they told me what It was and I could

I was in this restaurant a few years ago where I ordered the dish of the day, not knowing what it was. Anyway, it came out, looked a bit like meatballs, and very tasty. Anyway, I asked the waiter what it was, and he said bull testicles. Was a bit grossed out, but none the less, found it so good i went back the next night for another serve. And the following night. However, when i went back the fourth night, the balls were not nearly as large as they had been, but i dug in anyway. Later I asked the waiter why tonights were much smaller, and he just said 'sometimes the man wins, sometimes the bull wins'. I don't eat there any more.


On a serious note, I had roo-chos last night - nachos with kangaroo mince.

how come that nobody ate bugs and stuff like that? I was expecting to see that mentioned...while I was in BKK I saw grasshoppers and some other weird fried bugs!

Sheep testicles. Quite tasteless actually. Sort of a cod fish texture.

Some kind of large bat in a restaurant at some remote Indonesian island 20 years ago. I ordered grilled chicken. After tasting it I asked if it was really chicken. "Oh yes! Yes, definitely chicken!" [Turning away] "Sort of..." Afterwards they showed me the cage where they kept the future grilled-chicken-to-be and it was definitely not any kind of poultry, trust me on this one. But it wasn't bad. Tasted like chicken. 1:1 replica, made with a genuine sample as some probably would have put it...

I went to a fancy dinner my moms old work put on a while back.
Had all sorts of bugs for dessert ...
I kid you not.
(they also brought out some normal food for ppl who were less inclined to try the bugs)

This is not a pic from the dinner, but more or less this is what was served.
Some were covered in chocolate others caramel or just plain.

I also had scorpion ... but I did not and still will not touch the spider..

I've had rattlesnake, shark, puffer fish, and gator.
But the oddest to me was in Hawaii. The locals call it Opihi (I think thats how its spelled), they are a type of clam that live on rocks where the waves break. You pop them off the rock and suck them right out their shell. Kinda sweet.

I was working off the coast of Malabo in West Africa and we were living on a Congolese supply boat. Well we never had much luck identifying pretty much anything we ate on there. To be honest over the years we have learned it is best not to ask. Well one night they fixed a stew and the liquid part was a light creamy pink and it tasted like ox tail, but the meat had tufts of medium length hair on some of them and we could not figure out what the hell it was. Hey we worked all day so needless to say we ate it. It makes my stomach roll every time I think about it.
