[Deciding between Breitling SOSF from our Dealers]

Hello all,

Watcheden has a price match policy posted on their website (offering 120% price match if same item is cheaper elsewhere).

I have found two watches cheaper elsewhere, so I contacted them requesting a price match. Instead of matching the price they told me that their watches are better (they are exactly the same), that their service is better and their shipping is free.

The watch I found was $100 less than their price - shipping is $10-$20, so effectively they are not willing to match the price (as the other site is about $80 cheaper than they are) - despite the claim they do.

Has anyone ever succeeded to match a price with Watcheden? How?

Thanks for your comments...

I'm sure you verified stated specs between sellers (which I imagine can, at times, be difficult to do in fact until you have the watch in hand) but, wow, $100 is a huge spread in this game. Are the others from our Trusted Sellers gallery?

Yes, they look like exact same specs. Sellers are Trusted Sellers.

One thing to keep in mind. These "trusted" sellers do their best to get an order and ship out your watch. Beyond that, they really want to sell you something and they believe they have a superior product over their competition. There could likely be 2 factories that produce the same watch or rather, they know who the competition is buying from. It is very subjective and IMO doesn't help us much to have the guarantee. Home Depot pulled this crap on me once, refusing to match the competitors price on a water heater. So even legal goods retailers have the right to pick and choose how, who and when to give the price match to.

My advice is to contact them again and politely ask them to point out why theirs is better. After that, it's your choice. TBH, I always ask the seller to quote me their best price before I order anyway. I award to the best service, best watch and then price if I can live with the differences if any.

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

Gadgetguy-- As R2D4 said, your first course of action is to contact Tony at Watcheden and try to get more facts. Get as much information as you can about the watch in question. Then contact the other seller and do the same. If Watcheden is advertising something like that, and it turns out to be a gimmick, then it's something that we, as the admin and mod team, need to know about. Please keep us updated.

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

Can you post links to both watches for us? That way maybe we can help.... I'm curious as to how watcheden would be $100 more than one of the other sellers on something that was exactly the same....

Now saying it can't happen, just that I'm curious...

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

So long as the other seller is a trusted dealer here why not just buy from the other seller?

I understand the thread is about WE's price match, but the spread is too large, so there may be a verison or quality difference. I can't think of a seller here you would not want to buy from, so for $100 go with the other seller knowing it may be a slightly different watch.

Just my $.02

My very strong suspicion is that with a $100 spread, you're talking about different watches with different movements. If the spread was $30 or $40, then they may be same. But a $100 difference at least indicates different watches.

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

The two watches are the following:

http://www.watcheden.com/breitling-supe ... 3-p-1.html - USD 285.- (free shipping)

and

viewtopic.php?f=196&t=51604 - USD 169.- +shipping.

They look the same to me - unless watcheden is using genuine ETA made in Switzerland. Based on my limited knowledge it is improbable that watcheden would have a gen ETA. Or am I wrong?

PS: Thank you all for your willingness to help. I really appreciate it. I am ready to order from time4direct, but since they do not accept order till after June 20, I hoped that I could get the same watch from someone else faster, for the same price.

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

Different watches all together.

With the T4d you get:
Updated crown and pointed arrow hand
Downgraded (Not really a downgrade TBH) to Asian 2836
Dial is so-so with the lume dots on the chapter ring a bit off the mark. (at least in the photos)

ZoSo and Amptor can tell you what you need to know on the T4D watch.

With WE you get:
Older style box hand and Swiss ETA
Wrong crown but a better quality dial IMO.

You have to look at them closely and decide what you can live with/without and make your choice. I am sure the experts will chime in on this.

IMO the best one is $328.00 http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=50

Money wise, the T4D is a good choice.

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

The SOSF was made with ETA 2824's.. I had 3 of them...

Asking a dealer to match his ETA price to a clone ETA price is just not realistic... I can see why WE turned it down....

LOL, I have done the same in the past. :D To my eyes, the T4D is the watch to buy if you only have 169.00 to spend. Do contact ZoSo and Amptor via PM as they bought these watches. Both had some issue or another but I think they were or are being taken care of. I think one was a dial issue and and the other was a crown.

Re: Price match offer - is it a lie?

I just bought 2 of these from Hont. A bit more money, but he QC's them and ships VERY fast. Verified by my watch smith to be GENUINE ETA movement AND water tight to at least 6 ATM (@200').

On a related note: is the ETA movement use genuine swiss??? ( In the watch sold by puretime or watcheden)?

They claim Gen ETA and it's been debated here and there. I always buy the clone unless I know the build quality is better from the other maker. I really have doubts it's 100% Swiss ETA that's my 2 anyway.

@Level, what was the cost and do you have a picture? I might want one. :D

I would be also interested!!! I just placed an order for an Omega PO Ultimate with ETA clone - and I cannot wait to order a nice SOSF as well...
