hehe, I haven't kept up on this post lately. I usually just read the new posts, so only if it comes up.
To clarify, I wrote that post not long ago when I was brand new to the hobby and didn't know better. I guess you are all right and wrong in some way. Great answers but no one has really given a sufficient answer. Maybe there isn't one.
I was using the term "Noobmariner" loosely to mean a beginmariner for around $100 and not thee "Noobmariner". True you would be hard press to find all of those flaws I listed on one watch, but rather a collection of possible flaws commonly seen on varying beginmariners from different factories. I guess there are so many flaws b/c they all come from so many different sources with varying QC and tolerances.
My question still stands at why so many flaws WHEN other reps around a $100 have relatively so few flaws. Yes, I understand .....
-these watches are made by sweat shop kids
-that they can and will sell them as they are (flaws and all)
-that demand maybe outweighs supply
-that good and good enuf are accepted standards b/c its a $100 copy of a $7000 watch.
-that it is only a rep and not the real thing, and reps have flaws period the end.
-that im insignificant and it's only a $100.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to get a gen like 1:1 copy for a $100. I know that is not based in reality. My question and fustration still is rooted at the fact that we do have some reps that are very very close to their gen for around $100, but not the beginmariner. This is a mystery to me b/c the beginmariner is probably the best selling rep of all time. You would think that it would be in their best interest to produce a good or great copy of this watch as oppose to closely repping other brands that maybe don't sell as many. I will accept that at the end of the day, they still sell millions of these crappy copies, so there's no need to improve them.
It would just make more sense to me to make a great copy if you're going to go through the trouble of making a bad copy. But that's just me...
