No REAL Guarantee of Swiss ETA

Hi Guys,

After looking at several avenues, Ive almost decided to purchase my first watch from PT based here in UK, I asked him if his QC checks included, removal of the back and if he could take a pic, or at least verify genuine Swiss ETA. He told me by removing the back it would loose its pressure seal and that it came with 3ATM.

I know PT is well known and considered a reputable source on this forum, and am not disputing this fact, but what should I do here? imo its an expensive watch but with no guarantees of the movement except that he trusts the factory he uses. Is this enough?

Regards,

Actually, come to think of it, there is no mention on his website of any sort of ETA or movement, I think I just took info from this forum that he used genuine Swiss ETA, I guess its a matter of taking his word for it! :?

You could have PT pull the case back and take photos for you, then have a local watchmaker re-pressure test/waterproof it for you.

TBH, if you get some silicone seal grease for watches and some duct tape, you can re seal it just fine.

Thanks guys, Ive already been told to do this, ask him to pull the back and then do exactly as R2D2 said, it shouldnt be a problem, I just dont think he's interested in doing it.

Has anyone had any experience here? its an expensive gamble to say it may or may not!

At the end of the day, once ive paid, if the back is pulled.....and it isnt....the watch would still be mine as its special order, pay upfront!

 You upsetting people again Tubbs?

Try looking at this thread D4M started a while ago. It may help you to identify whether it is genuine or not if you eventually get the photo's from PT

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45687&p=400905&#p400905

On a different note, I would assume if you ask for something, pay for it and it wasn't as advertised you would either get a correct replacement or get your money back. PT is a trusted dealer here so I am sure you will fare well with him.
