Used in women's watches, thus the size. BK says no Chinese copy has been made so it has to be gen. Looks weird, doesn't it? Maybe the smaller size also explains why it's silent.

amazing pics!

No etched crown means that it also uses a clarks crystal?
Good question. WM9 site says there's an etched crown but none on my watch. Maybe when BK gets back from vacation he can shed some light on the crystal.

Anyone notice how the one crown guard is slightly botched? mrmurphy did on RWG.

All pics were taken with my Nikon D80. The first set were taken with the 18-200 VR lens, not a macro lens but with 10 mp you can crop like crazy and still get a good image. The second set was taken with my Tamron macro lens, save for the first movement shot. I used a sweater to steady the camera and lens on the dial shots but otherwise all shots were taken handheld. Minimal processing with Photoshop Elements: auto levels, resizing for web, and occasionally some sharpening using the more refined sharpening available in the program. (I forget what it's called but it corrects for lens blur.)

Ok, being a noob I'm really confused now. I also ordered this same Re-furbished 2007 , or is it V2 08 Z Series? I don't know?

The watch I received is exactly like this watch, only when I ordered it I didn't ask for "a special member deal" and when received the package, I opened it up and BAMM! It's this same watch. the WM9 2007 Submariner Z Serial number. ( my pics can be seen here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=49407&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=30 ) The specs match what the site claims. It isn't supposed to have an etched crown on the crystal.
The only thing that I noticed that doesn't match up to his listing is the addition of the hollow link bracelet. Maybe that's why he is calling it an upgrade to the "V2 08 Z series" Who knows???

All I can say is.... for $375.00 I like it.

Someone wrote George "got in over his head" with the refurbished sale. My guess is too many people emailed him asking not to get a bad watch. One guy on RWG said he got one with different colored lume on the hands. A bunch of guys got the 08 Z series. Lucky us! It is a fabulous deal for $375.

The watch 4square received seems to have the crown assymetrically mounted. It´s closer to the down CG than the upper one.
...I remember BK saying on one of his posts about that.

Poor assembly problems, as I can see on his pics?
...and I saw the curvy funky upper CG you posted on one of the pics of your watch, Doc

BTW, your pics are simply outstanding and breathtaking! @___@ post more!!!

Cheers,
Spirit.

Thanks, Spirit.

The top crown guard on mine IS funky. Good thing it can't be seen by the naked eye.

Congrats Doc. I had purchased a YM ladies watch with the 2678 and I got a bad one so I replaced it and I have to say it was a really smooth sweep movement. It was probably due to two facts, it was a gen Tissot serviced and the dial was tiny. I can only imagine yours will be as nice as any 28XX ETA. Quiet is good.

Congrats.

Good thing it can be easily fixed with a little bit of sanding and patience too, Doc.
No big deal, you can do it yourself if you have a little time, nice eyes, and no hurry... no experience required for the job =)

Enjoy your nice Sub! It´s a very nice piece indeed!

Cheers,
Spirit.

All I have is a diet scale and a scale to weigh bales of marijuana.

:D

Just kidding about the marijuana scale.

It weighs just shy of 140 gms. on my diet scale, with 2 links removed.

I've fiddled with the timing on the Sub, tiring of it running 15-20 slow/day. After a few snags, I'm happy to report it's lost only one second in the past three days.

My watch has pretty much been identified as a refurbished model, despite George's promise to send me a new one. Proof is the crystal w/o etched crown and factory reject crown guard.

Get yours from BK if you like this model.

Note: I still love this watch and wear it often. The fault (I don't consider the lack of an etched crown a fault. Rather, it's a plus.) can only been seen through the macro lens. I just hate being lied to.

Same here, I was promised a new one as well. My crystal doesn't have the etched crown and the little tab on the buckle is bent.
That and it doesn't keep time very well, mine is alway way out.
Are you just using the clock on Windows to compare??

No. I go to http://www.time.gov.

Mine keeps excellent time now. They're fairly easy to adjust. Just move the regulator towards the outside of the case to speed it up, inside to slow it down.

I've got a radio controlled clock that I check my watches with. It cost about £20, it was wierd when you set it up. Just pop the batteries in, wait a couple of minutes for it to get it's signal then it sets itself to the second, surreal to watch. It's supposed to be accurate to 1 second in a thousand years or so...doubt the batteries will last that long though... :)

Is there any way to improve the gap in the SEL?
