Well it seems that i have managed to break my Daytona. Over the weekend it appears that i dropped my Daytona right on the corner part of the glass on my marble floor and it shattered. I removed the piece cleaned it out and looks like it is ready to be replaced. I was wondering if there are any of you that know or if there is a sponsor online that sells this piece i need. It looks like its as easy as getting a new one and pushing it into place. If not please share your knowledge as i am a bit new to this. Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Dont have any clue if it can be fixed easily or not.

But just wait till the "dragons" on this start to response...i think
someone of them can help you with this!

Thank goodness. I've gotten so used to people talking about D4M that when I saw your post headline, I thought Daytona4me had bit the dust. Which would be dreadful.

Was it a sapphire crystal? If so you should hack the mechanism, pull the crown all the way out so the watch stops functioning and take it to a local watch smith to have it serviced. When sapphire crystals shatter, they shatter into a million pieces and you end up with bits of sapphire in your movement finer than a grain of sand. If you don't clean them out and you allow the watch to continue running it could destroy your movement.

These are some photos of a Daytona that wasd ropped and hit a tile floor. It's been said that the safest place for a Rolex is on one's wrist. Although sapphire is one of the hardest substances next to diamond, when it breaks it shatters into miniscule pieces that can fall into the movement. A crystal break of this magnitude will reqire a complete service of the watch in order to insure the removal of all the crystal fragments. If this happens to your Rolex, be sure to stop the second hand (hack it) by pulling out the crown, or else there can be further damage to the movement.

Thanks Jack,

Thats exactly what happend to mine. I took the glass out and tried to clean it as much as possible. I wanna try to do this myself as i dont want to take it to someone to do. All i pretty much need is a new glass/crystal. But this is exactly what it looked like

You can ask the dealers to see if they can sell you a sapphire cystal, should not be that expensive...

D4M is still alive and kicking!!!

On this model you need to remove the bezel to change the cristal.

The cristal and his gasket are attached to the bezel. First remove the bezel.

To remove the bezel, you need to insert a thin cutter blade between the case and the bezel, then lift.

This is a watchsmith job, or a job for a amateur with good tools and a minimum skills.

The best advise: buy another Daytona. Only a few bucks.

buy a new one, then take apart the old one.
i have always done this with 90 percent of all things i own that break.

this way, if you eff up the already-broken one...no biggie.
if you fix it, you have two.

Very true, now how do you go about opening the back of a Daytona?

using a rubber ball or blue tack, stick on the back of the case and give it a good twist(anti-clockwise). If you did it correctly, it should come off...
