Yachtmaster repair. DG2813 repair help! Pic inside

Well I bought this noob case with movement from a fellow member as a project. It is not for me and rather i will be giving it to the best man in my wedding as he is always commenting on my watches. I believe the watch comes with a DG 2813 which is 21000 beats. The movement in the watch is no longer working. The rotor still spins freely but the movement does not tick at all. Here is a picture just to double check the movement:

Would you all have any ideas on why the movement is not running? If so is there anything I can check?

Also I thought I would have a crown to fit this but it being a noob case the crown I have is not deep enough and does not screw far enough down. Is there anywhere were I can but a stem and crown.

Well I think I found the root of the problem. On the gold wheel there seems to be very fine and thin metal string that is circular and it seems to become unwound. Is this an easy fix or am I just better off buying a new movement?

The mainspring is unspooled. That is one of the cheapo movements that the twins began slipping in on us a while ago. Not even worth fixing.

So in other words, buy a new movement from Ajoe for $15 or whatever he is selling it for and pop it in. You'll have to swap the date overlay but then you're good to go. Fixing the one you have will probably cost a lot more than buying a new one.

Repfreak is selling 28k movements on RG for $30 that are a direct replacement as well.

You have to decide on what movement you are going to use before you can get the stem.

I have never replaced a movement before and would like something with a smoother sweep as I *think* he might like that better but push come to shove I think he would like reliability more than the sweep. So which one would be best. I just dont want to put in a ticking time bomb!

The higher beat 28800bph DG4813 is fine as well. Talk to Ajoe and he should verify this. The new movement will come with a stem, if you have the original crown it's just a matter of trimming the stem to the correct length to suit the watch. The crown will screw onto it and you can loctite it as well if need be... :wink:

Coldi I never had problems with the DG so far, it is the ETAs that give me problems, so no more etas for me!

The 2813 is a very reliable movement, especially for the money.

I'm Katt and I do watch repair . See me here on RWI . I've worked on many Dg-2813s . They are decent enough Asian movements and usually work well .
I can possibly look into repairing it for you . Or , if you decide to change it out for a new one , I might be interested in your scrap DG2813 for parts .

Hey Katt, this is the same movement in the LV i just sent you. Like i said in my email if it doesnt work out we can just throw that 2836 clone in there. Or i can get one from the guy on RG.
