Hi People,

Just about to buy my first watch, after pm'ing some established members (thanks to Fakemaster & MEYER8888) I think I have most of my noob questions sewn up.
However I have one more in regards to payment and rather than keep bothering these guys thought I would put this to the community and say hello to everyone.

Always had a thing for Breitlings, and after a long search I believe I have found my first watch - Breitling Blackbird (same one as MEYER8888 bought recently, you can check out his awesome pics in the Breitling section if you havent done already.
Looks like a great watch and the qualitly seems very high in comparison with other reps's. ( please correct if wrong)

And the dealer I have chosen is HONT. - He comes very highly reccomended so I feel safe and confident on this.

Being the first time I have done something like this, also I have never even made a bank trasnfer online in this light! I would like some advice on how I should make the payment for the watch. I have been given the various options (ones I know you will be familiar with)

1. western union –-- fast payment.
2. moneybookers
3 credit card via link on web
4 bank wire – 3- 7 days money arrive

Could someone give me any tips or advice on the best route to do this and actually how to do this also!

Thanks

Crovax

Use your cc, if anything goes pear shaped you have more kick. Not that it should with Hont as he's supposed to be o.k.

Only thing about CC is that for overseas purchases (and I don't know where Hont is located) is that VISA charges a 3% surcharge, even if the denomination is in US dollars, or at least this is what my bank tells me.

Hont is located in Ghangzhou China - Say all in the watch will cost me $350 including delivery so I would just need to add a 3% charge to this. However I have the added security factor.

I realise I may be prissy about this but its my first buy and I want it to go right!

CC for sure. Sometimes you have to call your CC first as many block large overseas transactions for your protection. Its easy to get the money released though.

My first post and yet to introduce myself. I'll do that later :)

Like you I've ordered my first today through Hont and I paid using my cc. Went straight through with no problems. So far Hont has been very quick to reply to all emails even on a Sunday afternoon.

It's certainly a bit nerve racking placing your first order and I've been on here for weeks taking in as much as I could and picked Hont on the good feedback he's been receiving lately. Ordered myself a PAM111. Can't wait for it to arrive. I just know this is going to get expensive as I know what I want next. Hopefully Hont will come through and I'll be ordering again.

Hope all goes well.

Do you get the same protection as you would using a VISA Debit card?

cc is the way to go. I've done them all and a credit card gives you security and you don't have to leave the comfort of your home or office.

Welcome Pophott!

Bah, both mine and my girlfriends cards have been declined, never had a problem before so im guessing it has something to do with where the website is based.

I'm going to contact my bank tomorrow, but is this a common thing to encounter?

Certainly is a coincidence! I see from your next post that you card was declined. I use mine alot as I travel a bit with work so I assume my bank are used to slightly irregular transactions. Have a word with them I doubt it'll be a problem.

Hope you manage to get it sorted :)

Whereabouts is Essex are you from? I'm Nr Southend.

i try to keep my rep purchases in CONUS ... it limits the choice of dealers but i like the convienance of delivery (2-3 days vs 7-14 from china)

For me i prefer to use:

VISA or MC
USPS domestic money order with established members who i have bought fom before and they sold to me

only did one domestic CONUS bank wire transfer

to each his / her own

Hi, I'm also new to this site and I am also looking at the Blackbird, but I do not see it on Hont's website
Am I blind or is it hidden somewhere? Under what name? Link maybe?

lol everyone is gunning for the Blackbird, you can contact him on this address;

[email protected]

He has been very responsive, although I finally made my payment today around 2pm (after resolving some issues with my cc) and emailed him the details to say it's gone through but havent heard from him yet!

Maybe he has taken the day off or something?

More important than how you pay is whom you give your money to.

Use your CC and buy from a scammer and you may have protection but you also have a big hassle.

Buy from a recommended and trusted dealer and you could pay with cash and not have to worry about being ripped off.

Dealers become recommended because they earn the trust, not through payoffs to board owners. Bad dealers are quickly outed and booted.

I will go against the flow here and put a plug in for Western Union. Most probably do not like WU but for me it is very convenient. Close to home and pay cash. No fuss and no hassle. I use paypal when dealing with trusted members here on the forum...very trusted members.

Good luck with your first purchase. :D
