Well, I've been here a few weeks, just soaking up some knowledge and have basically decided to go with my first Rep. I'm considering a Hublot Big Bang King and I'm looking to get some of your impressions of it. There seems to be a SS version and a Platinum wrapped version, and about 200.00 difference between the two.
My question is deos anyone own either one and would it be worth the extra $$ for the platinum version?

thanks

That's a lot of money for a replica.

If you are looking for something extraordinary for the price... you will realize after a couple weeks of wearing it that it is simply just a replica watch.
Same quality in many other replicas for much less.. such as the V3 Breitling Chronomat.. also.. something a little less quality but same size and CONSIDERABLY LESS Money is the Corum Admiral Cup.. about $180

but that's apples and oranges ...

Overall, the BBK is a real nice watch.. but too rich for my blood..

The design is not my cup of tea, so I have no first hand experience.

I will say this, I would start with the less expensive rep. If you LOVE it after owning it for a little while, then sell the SS version and upgrade to the platinum, if you want. The cheaper version will be easier/faster to sell and you'll likely get more of your initial investment back vs. buying the expensive one first and then trying to downgrade.

Good luck.

Thanks guys for the good advice. I'll think about this a bit and Daytona, if I decide to go with a Breitling, I'll contact you first. I also thought maybe one of the skylands, black face, red writing.

I typically agree with these guys, but this time I don't. The big bang king is actually a pretty good deal, for the lite version.
Trust me the stainless version is just fine. I honestly could not tell the difference between the plat and stainless.
If you like big watches, I would suggest this one. It's much more attractive in person and in photos.

If you shop around you should be able to find a good deal on this watch, probably just over two bills.
There are perhaps some better deals in the rep market, V3 skyland for example, however if you like the style of the King, I say go for it.

The BBK was a favorite of mine until I got the Deep Sea. Now I wear it less often.

They can be dressed up if you like (although it's unlikely I will wear it with a suit again--not my style):

I bought the SS version (The lite version) the beginning of December and I couldn't be happier. Very good Asian movement, spot on dial, killer double A/R, great strap and clasp and fantastic case and bezel build. This baby gets a ton of wrist time and I also have the DSSD. Do not waste the money on the expensive model, the lite version will blow your mind. I'm wearing it right now and when I see me with it on, I totally love me. This watch makes self-abuse un-necessary and because of that I now have much more free time with my family.

OK, thanks to everyone's advice and a lot of reading, I finally pulled the trigger today. Ordered a BB King stainless edition, and just for fun a FM crazy hours. Let's wait and see how this turns out.

I'll have to go dust off the macro lens cause I see how everyone likes pics here. I'll be sure to post up some when I get it in.
