Ready to buy a Daytona rep

This is my first post after doing months of research on reps and various websites.

I am looking for the Daytona with the black dial and red markings. I hear that Daytonas are hard to find that work good.

I am ready to buy, with money in hand. I prefer not to spend a fortune but want a good watch too so I will pay for quality.

I have e-mailed PreciousTime to see what he has in stock as I have read good things about him on here.

Any other avenues for dealers to look at? All help is appreciated.

Daytona's already had a reputation for blowing up even before this whole "batch of crappy 7750s" thing started. I think it's just a crap-shoot, but wish you luck. There are many guys who swear there's no problem, and others who have had more bad ones than good.

Hmm. Before you pull the trigger, I think you'd do well to read these two threads:

Daytonas are ten-a-penny though and pretty much any dealer here will be able to offer you one. I've ordered mine from Mark at timeshop.net, who's currently got some attractive offers. What you get is a bit of crap-shoot though, especially given the 7750 movement. If you're willing to settle for sec @ 9, of course, you can improve your chances of a watch that will last a bit.

Regardless,

If you service the watch as soon as you get it and use the chronos the way they are intended you will have a pretty good watch.

OK - if you really want one, I just noticed that D4M is selling them on his site. He only sells very good stuff that he can source at an excellent price, and he stands behind his stuff. However, you may want to confirm with him first the process/conditions if it arrives DOA due to all the 7750 issues.
I'll PM you with his web-site. You may find the one you want, or he may be able to source it for you if you PM him.

Thanks for the PM level.

Those pics posted above just reinforce my decision to want that as my first rep.

I got an e-mail back from PreciousTime about 8 hours after I e-mailed him and he said he can get me what I want. It's going to be a little high but if his QC is what everyone says it is then I think I'll be happy.

Any other help would be appreciated too. I will be buying a Breitling and an Omega in the near future as well.

Sounds like a good plan. I hope you enjoy the daytona. I have a gen TT and I adore it!

I would stay as far away as possible from Daytona reps. I think they're cursed with failure

I don't mean to poop in your Cheerios or anything, but I've had bad luck with the 7750. It sucked, because I LOVED those watches....freakin' BEAUTIFUL.

If you do pull the trigger, I really hope you have good luck. I bought mine a couple years ago, so maybe something's been done to the movement, or maybe a few are just "bad". I just can't bring myself to buy another one because of the heartbreak!!! I know our dealers will do the best they can for you, though.

I just bought a Breitling rep from the sales section so the Daytona is put on the back burner for now. Since I am new to this I want to have a black face, white face, and blue face watch. The Breitling is a black face so the Daytona is going to wait a few months. Next up is a blue face and PT has a beautiful Tag Link that I am eyeing.
