You can not be that big of a watch enthusiast to never hearing of Corum. No disrespect, but Corum has been in the high end watch scene since the early fifties. Their Admiral, Golden Gate and Bubble (I have a gen of this :D ) have set standards in the high end horologie. Need to research stuff before hand.

I've ordered 5 watches from bidz.com. All were fantastic deals but 2 were not as advertised. Specifically they did not come with the paperwork and correct boxes. The watches themselves were new and had no problems. The ones that came without the right accesories I did not try to return or use customer service at all since they were so cheap anyway, so I can't say if they would have corrected the mistake. They all sold for profit on ebay anyway :D . I also bought jewerlry from them and was quite happy with what I recieved. I have a feeling a was incredibly lucky however, and have not done business with them for some time now.

Thanks for bringing in the "goof" and "annally retentive" parts guys. As i said earlier I was not meaning any disrespect, but, hey what the hell. And by the way, many watch enthusiasts here, and for me, I get reps because I cant afford buying gens all the time, but that me. And yes, this is my .02 cents. Lets leave it at that, didnt mean to ruffle anyone's feathers  .

I've been searching through bidz.com for a little bit, and I've found that they are advertising retail values of watches pretty high...I'm not talking the diamond encrusted watches, but QUARTZ chronographs & chronometers (check out the Lambo watches).
Dunno how a quartz watch could be worth 2000 dollars (even with the lambo name).

All that might be my misunderstanding/naivety/stupidity...but the only quartz watch I'll see for over 2k (with no diamonds, 24k gold or something) is a bell & ross Hydromax 11000m.

Still seems like a good investment over there, though...

Never read this particular thread before (I joined in Spring 08) but it is illustrative of the atmosphere around here before the recent makeover. When I joined, I was curious about the flamefree zone and wondered why it was needed. Everyone seemed fairly cordial imo. In reading this post from 07, I now know have an idea why it was previously needed. Don't think I would have stuck around if I had joined back then.

Thanks to D4me, Los, Hooligan and everyone else for creating an atmosphere where I can prop my feet up, get comfortable, let my hair down and not worry about some jerk getting his jollies trashing me. I've too much stress in the rest of my life to get it in my hobbies also!

As a side note, finally bought a white box, lights and tripod last night from Ritz Cameras (about $80 here in Naples) to work on my picture taking. Very helpful guy there worked with me for free showing me how to take better pics with my current camera instead of selling me a new one. Did look at a 10x optical Sony though with a Macro setting anyone would be proud to own!!

DD

P.S. - Sorry to threadcrap Dready.

A manufacturer can set the MSRP at any level they wish, Dreads. Note the MSRP of a lot of Invictas and the like. The 9937 has an MSRP of something like $1000 or something, but they usually sell for about $350, even NIB from an AD. It's a marketing gimmick, nothing more.
